Blower noise
The blower in my 4runner has always made a little more noise than I think it should, especially on the lower settings, I'm just curious if anyone else notices this or if maybe I have a bad blower motor.
It's not the kind of noise you get from the fan turning fast and moving a lot of air. It just seems like it's coming from the motor. Sorry I can't describe it.

Others have had it get noisy in cold weather too or debris like a leaf can get in there. You get alot more noises in winter as everything shrinks a little in the cold.

I just changed the cabin air filter and found many leaves stuck in the filter and several that had gotten past the filter into the fan. I recommend you pull the filter and take a look into the fan, which is just below the filter and easily accessed once the filter is pulled out. It will take less than 5 minutes and is worth a look for any foreign objects stuck in there.

I just had my in for my 32,000km service and the tech noticed it was loud, told me they'd order a new blower motor for me and replace it under warranty. Mine does get noisier as you turn it up though.

I have the same issue and it has been there since the first day. It's a high pitch frequency and I can hear it more on low speed. It bugs the crap out of me! Local dealer told me it wasn't loud enough for them to change it but the dealer which I purchased from said they would change it no problem but they are 1 1/2 hours away.

Somewhere on here there is a picture someone posted of them using a little dental mirror to find a leaf that was stuck on the top of the blower motor housing.
I put a new filter in in October, and just changed it yesterday. It was FILTHY. I put it in just before Sandy, and driving around in all that crap clogged up the filter very fast. I think things can somehow get by dirty filters and cause noise.

I too have this same high-pitch tweaking noise in my 2010 Runner. It started about a month or two ago and is making me nuts. I've checked the cabin filter and couldn't see anything in the hamster-wheel-looking fan- even with a mirror as described above. Its less noticeable when the fan is up higher. I stopped by the dealer and the tech could definitely hear it and thought it would be covered by the warranty. It's going in tomorrow as the 3-36 is up in a few weeks. Wish me luck.

Wife had the same issue in her 2011 Sienna. They replaced it under warranty. However, I will also post her habit. She leaves the motor on when she shuts the car off or turns it on, heat for winter and AC for summer. Crazy woman. I on the other hand, shut it off prior to shutting the car off. Little things...
