I don't have one but just thinking out loud, I don't think I've ever bumped into that plastic part while the key was in the ignition. Some people have ungodly things attached to their key chains also.
Unless you're super tall where your knees are touching the panel underneath the steering wheel, I don't see this as an issue.

I had a flip key for my old 2001 Jetta TDI - was fun to play with but I could see these retro-fit flip keys not being as strong and possibly breaking. That key had a very beefy hinge point on it.
Neat concept though!

These seem bulkier than the OEM key

The only information I can find is that you need to use Tech Stream software with a mini VCI cable to program a new key without going to the dealer. I'll most likely attempt doing it this way if I can avoid a trip to the dealership.

I don't think it would be any different than the OEM key. It's going to stick out regardless. The idea is that if you stick this into your pocket it's not going to stab you or poke a hole through your pocket.

Here’s how I understand the flip fob.
- You’re getting a plastic shell with an uncut key.
- You have to do surgery to gut your OEM key to take out the transmitter/battery/keypad assembly and install it in the new fob.
- You also have to remove the little security chip and install it in the new fob.
- You then have to have the key cut at a locksmith. Don’t use HD or such. Make sure they do a good job. I’ve often had duplicate keys made and some did not work. You only have one shot with this. In fact, you should probably have the key cut first before destroying your old fob.

MESO released their Flip Fob's today. $82 out the door. I ordered one so we will see how it goes. Hoping for a good quality product since its a little more than double the cost of other normal aftermarket fobs.

I’m interested in this but wondering about the strength of the plastic holding the actual key. Whether it’s strong enough to withstand many years and thousands of twists to start the ignition.
Thanks for being one of the first buyers.
Looking forward to your review.

I ordered 2 flip keys from CTH and what I did, I ordered 2G keys from amazon ( Amazon.com: Keyless2Go Keyless Entry Remote Car Key with G Chip for Select 4Runner Rav4 Yaris Models That Use HYQ12BBY, HYQ12BDC (2 Pack): Automotive ). I programed these keys with Techstream, removed the internals (chip and door remote) and moved into the flip keys.
This way I still have the keys that came with the truck and can always go back.
The flip key looks strong enough to work for years but I still have backups if need it.

Like Electro said, excited to see your review. I have a nasty tendency to put my keys in my backpack with my sunglasses so the MESO Fob is on my radar, for the sake of sunglasses =)

Hi, sorry for the late response. I didn't take it to the dealer. I found a local auto locksmith who could program it. I believe cutting the key and program cost $75 for me.
Google auto locksmith in your area then ask if they are able to program.
