Greenlane Offroad, Aluminum Side Steps/Rocker Guards +pics
For those interested. I thought I'd share with you my experience. My short list came down to CBI, Slee and Greenlane. I decided to go with Greenlane because they were aluminum “steps” and the images on their web site combined with other web searches appealed to me the most. My recent 2”+/- lift had me sliding off my seat to exit so I (we) needed a little entry/exit assistance. Plus, given the extra lbs’s of recently adding 285’s I wanted to be mindful of weight. The aluminum was a perfect solution for me. Know that I am not into serious off road. Most of my travels these days has me in the low country of South Georgia and throughout Florida.
Ordering. The web transaction was straight forward. No issues and a confirmation email was instant. I received my shipment right at a week after placing the order. They arrived via Fedex and were packed very well so there was no damage from shipping.
Quality. I consider myself a craftsman with an OCD critical eye for detail and I will tell you I am impressed by the fabrication quality, fit and finish throughout.
Installation. I do not have KDSS or XREAS. Given the fact they are aluminum I was easily able to lift them in place, supported with a knee and install a couple of bolts to hold in position. There was just enough play in the mounting holes to allow for a little movement when installing the remaining bolts finger tight before tightening. Both sides installed super easy with absolutely ZERO (none, zip….nada) issues.
So, that’s it. I am pleased with the outcome.
Safe travels.

These have held up very well to the harsh Canadian elements as well as the muddy trails here in Ontario. I haven't (knock on wood) had to test out their strength but I feel they would hold well given the terrain I traverse.

I’m in FL and can fully relate to the reasons you chose those. Those welds are top notch. I really like the design and they’re apparently easy to install. Just got to see how much they are. (Drum roll.....)

Looks great. I have a silver 4R and have been considering aluminum slider/steps also. Do they work well for you stepping in and out?
Are they wide enough so you can get a good chunk of your foot on it, not just your toes?

They have about the same platform dimensions as the stock running boards but are tucked further up into the body so you lose a bit of stepping room. They seem fine for normal use.
Here is a phot of me standing on mine.

Their usefulness as a step (I think) has a lot has to do with your BFG to seat height ratio (Butt From Ground). Using them as a step for a 6' person will not be the same as someone 5' tall such as my wife. For me, 5'-8", I tend to use them more for getting out than I do for stepping in but they are still new for me. As
@ a2marian
shows, there is plenty of room to get your foot on and they are narrow enough to easily step over if your BFG allows. Otherwise, if you are looking for a legit step up step, there a few manufacturers that make a drop step but for me, I didn't want the low hanging fruit.

When you factor in the CAD exchange rate, I think they're a deal.

I am looking into getting sliders/steps for my t4r and am considering these.
Did anyone here purchase these without the powder coat? If so would that be problematic to leave unfinished?
I know u would want some type of rough surface for the step part for grip, but anti-skid tape could be applied there and the rest left raw.

Also interested in purchasing these, would use them more as steps to get in and out of the vehicle for the wife and kids. Any thoughts on this? how have other peoples experience with them been?

I have a custom version of these with the rear bump out. Really a great product, welds are solid and the powdercoat finish has been really tough.

I have the angled sliders, which sit about 5 to 6 inches lower than the floor of the cab. I find I seldom use them for entering or exiting the vehicle, but they're great for accessing the roof. My gf on the other hand uses them as steps to get in on the passenger side all the time. I got the angled sliders to preserve ground clearance as much as possible, but if you're using them primarily as steps then I think you can order flat sliders which sit a little lower. I would think they'd be really good steps for kids.

Very Nice, how much was your shipping from Canada? Greenlane has a nice roof rack also. Considered the roof rack but thought the shipping cost would make it not so attractive a deal.
Enjoy your new sliders, they look great! Nice to know they don't add a lot of weight either.

OP is correct - they do beautiful, high-quality work. I'm a big fan and I'd buy them again in a second.
They have different styles and you can get them angled or not ... I think if you just want steps, getting the ones that the OP has would work well. I got them with bump out and angle, and while I don't need them as steps, they work well for folks that do.
I'm a fan of the aluminum (weight, rust) and while I'm not sure I'd use a hi-jack, I've banged them off rocks when 4x4 and they have done what they are supposed to do - keep the body from being damaged.
