Dedicated bumper mounted Rear Winch
Is anyone using a rear winch on a 5th Gen 4-Runner? If so, can you post some photos and share your insight on mounting and wiring.
I currently have a Super Winch in a mounting cradle that I can plug into the trailer hitch receiver of my 2010 Tacoma but want to have a dedicated rear mounted winch tucked up under my 2019 4 Runner.
The mounting cradle option is nice because I can leave the rear winch/cradle at home when the truck is being used as my daily driver. The downsides are two fold. 1) The bulky winch/cradle sticks out obnoxiously from the back of the truck and seems to always be in the way of lowering the tailgate and working/cooking behind the truck. 2) The winch/cradle is big, heavy and awkwardly shaped with sharp edges that make moving it around and carrying it in the truck difficult. Especially when loaded down with family camping gear, kids and dog.
I'm surprised more people are not using a dedicated rear winch. Perhaps it's because there are not a lot (if any) aftermarket rear winch bumpers out there for 5th Gen 4-Runners?
