Lifted Limited Questions

Hey guys. I plan to lift my '16 Limited with 5100s all around, OME 2884s in the front, and OME 2895Es in the rear. I also intend to put 275/65/R18 tyres on. Several questions about this:

Will I need to remove the X-REAS for this lift?

Will the 275s fit without rubbing (18x9, +1 offset wheels)?

How noticeable will the driver's side lean be at this height?

Lastly, if any Limited owners have this set-up or anything similar, photos would be appreciated.

I personally removed the XREAS as it's only a few bolts here and there, and would clean up the frame a little, as well as make adding sliders easier. I am running 285/70 with 17x9 Fuel Kicker 6 (+1 Offset) and no rubbing. I did the body mount chop in prep of the lift, but I'm no where close to rubbing. I also added SPC upper control arms when I did my lift.

First pic is with OME springs front and rear with the 5100s on the highest setting. It sat a solid 2-3" lower on the back, I highly suggest not setting the front shocks there for the obvious reasons. Also it was way too much preload on the springs and caused the front to bounce under 40 mph. There was a good thread on here just a few days back about only setting the fronts at the .85 lift setting.

Second is a pic with the ICON 2" springs on the rear with a 1" cornfed spacer. Still squatted but not as bad.

Here is a pic of the 5100s after i dropped it to the second setting.

Lastly is a pic of the stock springs next to the OME 895e next to the Icon 2" for height reference.

After adding a front bumper, it looks to be leveled out.

Depending on your mileage you might want to replace the struts/shocks anyway. I just sold my 2011 Limited and replaced it with a 2020 Limited. When I drove the new one, I noticed is how bad the XREAS, with 140K miles, had gotten. You probably don't notice it until you have a reference.

The OEM struts/shocks are about $2K in parts + labor and I've been told it's around $3500-$3800 for the job @ Toyota. For that money you can get a full set of 5100s with springs and have $1500 left over.

So - Yah ditch the XREAS unless you loved it when it was new. Otherwise shell out the $$ and renew it.

There are some extra "brake line" looking things on the outside of the frame rail. They should come off pretty easy.

As for sliders - You should consider removing the lower sill molding and replacing the fender caps with SR5/TRD one. The lower sill is extra bulk that gets in the way and it opens up an an array of sliders.

BTW the 2011 had 275/55R20 and I never got one rub, even with mild off roading.

I left the XREAS lines in place when I did my lift, but I did do the correct removal procedure so I could add the shocks back as an option if I sold it.

Keep in mind that if you ever add rock sliders, the lines may be in the way unless you buy a set made specifically for LE with XREAS. You may have to do this anyway because of the LE sill rocker trim mentioned in the post above.

The 275/65/18 tires should fit with no rubbing (possibly not even rubbing pre-the lift). That tires size equates to a 32.1" tall tire. I installed a set of 275/70/17 before my lift which equates to a 32.2" height with no rubbing, so you should be fine. Keep in mind that every truck could be different depending on your alignment specs.

We just installed some BP51's on a my wife's '12 Limited and removed the XREAS completely. It has over 90k on it and the new suspension is certainly much better.

also as someone else mentioned installing sliders is a lot easier without the XREAS in the way. I did it on my wife's before we installed the suspension and it's just more of pain than it needs to be. At the same time, we also installed SPC upper control arms and moved my '19 TRD Offroad wheels with 285/70 tires onto it. We did not need to do the BMC.
