Door pocket
What do you put in the shallow door storage pocket right under the handle? Can’t figure out a purpose. Maybe I’ll do the gun mod panel.

Tried a small led flashlight, but it rolled around and made noise. It's not big enough for much else.

AAA paper maps. The old in-house ones were great, but after they farmed out the task their maps are not so nice. I usually use GPS on the phone, but it’s good to have large overview maps for planning.

i remember in the pre-internet days when you would stop by your local AAA office to plan trips, they would give you all the maps you needed and tell you about things to do along the way and help you make plans at your destination.

A couple of water bottles, a micro fiber cloth, and small kleenex pack.
Every been sitting at a traffic light and see dust on your dash/instrument cluster. "Hmm, I have to remember to clean that later." That's what the micro fiber cloth is for.

Door pocket
What do you put in the shallow door storage pocket right under the handle? Can’t figure out a purpose.
I think the OP is referring to the long narrow slot just below the handle, not the foot level pocket on the door.
The slot will not hold much , but I did notice that a 9 mm magazine fits nicely in there.

I hate that slot it just gets clutter, chap sticks, loose change, reading glasses that fall off when you open the door.
