I find it odd that when I connect the wire from the trigger terminal to the tap on the dome light the rock lights come on when I open the door. They will not turn off when I close the door and wait until the dome light goes out. I manually have to turn off the rock lights on the spod. My next move will be to try the wires for the puddle light. From what I have found they changed those wires also.

I would monitor the circuit voltage in real time with a meter to see what is happening. You might need to add a 1k or 10k pull down resistor in there in line before the bantam input.
Might not be the most elegant solution but you could consider getting a small automotive 4 pin relay and have that control the input to the bantam.
Or find something more convenient or reliable to tap from, like your parking lights. I generally stay away from factory fuse panels. If I needed something like that I would have taken it from my headlight circuit and kept all the stuff under the hood, assuming that's where your stuff is located.
I don't know your system in full, but just spit-balling some ideas. This information is worth what you paid for it and expressed without warranty.
