A buddy of mine ran STT Pro’s on his GX, I don’t think he got much last 30k on them. It went to Prudhoe bay and back though, not easy miles. He runs ST Maxx pizza cutters now.

ST Maxx in stock size for me and about 25K miles. I cannot speak to their snow capabilities but on and off-road they are excellent. Very tough and great traction.

Weight your decision against that i suppose... Also Cooper has 100 rebate for the STT Pros, but not the Maxx... Good luck!

The Maxx have a lot of great feedback..

yeah, I know I should buy the Maxx. especially because I'll be doing a lot of driving this summer. I want the Pros though.

If you can afford to replace tires sooner then just go with it, no sense in feeling like you compromised!

For reference, ST Maxx with 45,000 miles on them.

Get the st maxx I had them on my ole Tacoma and they performed awesome i ended up adding some sipes to mine for winter driving, and they were awesome in snow, and moved water on the roads like crazy... Plus they were fairly quiet for such tire...

Is that a good or bad in your perspective?

Not sure which aspect you’re referring to, but experience witnessing the STT Pro on my buddy’s truck off-road is that they have phenomenal off-road traction but wear quickly. They’re super sticky and climb up anything. He spun a lot less tire than me on KO2’s or ST Maxx.

That said, the ST Maxx have always gotten me where I want to go, and I included that picture to show how, even after 45k mikes, they still have decent tread left. If I didn’t answer your question let me know, happy to provide more details.

*Edit: my reference to @black end_offroad was because it sounds like they really have their heart set on mud terrains, so just provided gentle encouragement to go that route if they can afford the replacement schedule.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for, i wasn't sure if you were showing pics of the tire as a good or bad indicator of tire wear.

Sorry for not being more explicit.

I have been wondering about the STT Pro for snow driving though. I'm actually also looking for a hybrid right now but take my 4Runner into ski country at least 2 or 3 times a year (and sometimes drive in pretty gnarly conditions). Thus that's my one reservation to running them.

For reference, I have the Terra Grapplers on my Pro right now, have run Falken AT3W on my previous 4Runner, and ran Exo Grapplers, Trail Grapplers, and KMs on my Wrangler Unlimited previously.

I read as many reviews as I could find, they all said the Pro wasn't great in snow. Reviews on the Maxx in snow are mixed. Reviews on the Falken A/T's in snow are pretty universally positive.

For those running these or similar type of tires on stock 17's, what size do you use since most 285's require a 8" wide tire?

Smallest "required" for 285's is 7.5 inch, but a lot of people run 285's on 7" TRD wheels with no problems.
