Get the wind faring. Without it there is noticble noise. With it, they are as (if not more) quiet than stock

I have zero wind noise. I've only got two of my four up so far (waiting for my vinyl wrap to finally get here to black out the silver rails before I put the other two on). Wind fairing on the front bar and the second bar about halfway back.

That set up is so vastly better than my TRDP rack it’s incredible.

I wonder if I can just have my Toyota dealer swap out the TRDP rack for the black rails on yours and then just add the LFD cross bars. Your set up is ideal for me and it looks much better.

Is that essentially what you did? Where did you find the black OEM rails?

My wife wanted a red 4Runner with all the other stuff black. Mine is an SR5 and they came silver. I took them off and had them powder coated black. I think it cost 100 dollars or so. The plastic covers were rattle can painted with John Deere “blitz black” spray paint. If I had it to do over again, I would just spray paint the rails too. The blitz black finish looks completely OEM and is holding up better than the powder coat. If you look at it you can’t tell it isn’t OEM.

Also, you don’t need the dealer to swap out the rails, it’s super easy. There are only 4 bolts holding each rail on. If you are planning on buying the black ones anyway you ought to give painting them a shot. It’ll really come out nice.

I took the rack off and apart (very easy - only simple hand tools and a T25 Torx bit required), and had my silver side rails powder coated in a satin black. It cost $50, and that's well worth it IMO, especially when compared to less durable options like PlastiDip, vinyl, and spray paint.
