Stock size Nitto Ridge Grapplers
Anyone have exp with these? I'm throwing a lift on soon, but I think I'm just going to keep stock size tires and push em out a bit. Want these ridge grapplers but know they only come in E load. Ride a lot stiffer? Big mpg hit? Should I just upgrade to C load 285 Ridge Grapplers? I don't really need the bigger tires, and I want to have somewhat ok mpg since its my dd, and I believe 265 with a 2/1 Dobinsons will be plenty capable of handling most of the stuff out here in NoVA.

E rated tires will not be kind to you, especially after the lift stiffens things up a bit. Stick with C load on your dd.

If you go over to the ArmyGreen Pro link I just added SCS wheels with Falken AT tires. There pretty aggressive and I went with 10ply they ride good and no loss of power. I’m lifting mine down the road a little and staying with stock size tires. I believe the reason I don’t feel any power loss is I have a sprint booster on my Pro.

Both stock size and 285s come in standard load. I run SL in 285s.

I've looked but have seen very little information on the 285 SL. What made you choose SL over Cs? Any regrets? Any idea how they handle on light to moderate off roading? I'd appreciate any feedback since I'm getting these for memorial day and it's coming up.

I wanted the lighter weight and ride and get 18+ mpg. I‘m 95% on road and they’re great. I run 34 psi in them and with my suspension it’s phenomenal. I aired them down to 20 a few times and they’re great, but I’m very choosy about my tire placement. This thing won’t see a ton of trails for a few years.

I run the 285 SL’s as well. I picked the SL’s because they were $211/tire vs $275/tire. Doing the lift and tires at the same time, I was looking to cut costs where I could and figured I could always go with the higher load on the next set. They ride good to me.

If you’re not using them to off-road, skip them.
I’ve had them since August.
They start quiet and then get louder, not bad really But you can hear them if radio isn’t cranking.
Vibrations have been an issue since day one, 60mph type vibration. Didn’t have it before and they come and go with rotations & weather (hot and cold).
Mileage took a 20+ mile per tank hit.
Really wish I would have gone more AT. Daily driving is fine if you wheel. If you don’t wheel i’d look for a tamer tire.

Why would E load tires not be kind?
I jumped from Ds to Es (no reason other than lack of option) and haven't noticed too much of a difference with the exception of a noisier tire. Weight wise, there's only a 1 lbs difference between loads. I'm sure the weight different will eventually translate to worse mileage.
