Alignment UCA Question

Hey guys...just wanted to check in with the experts out there. I just installed my Cornfed spacers on my '17 TRD Pro. I did a 2/1.5 lift and also installed the JBA UCR. Man were those annoying to install. I am still keeping my stock 265 Nittos as I wanted to jump up to 285 Ridge Grapplers, but they were on backorder. An alignment was done after the install of the UCAs. When I make the jump to bigger tires, does another alignment need to be done. My buddy said I should be okay, but just wanted to check to make sure my new tires perform at optimal efficiency. Aloha all.

Any changes in your suspension or tires/rims require an alignment to get proper alignment. Although the difference may be considered minimal between 265/285, it’s still a difference in which you may see improper wear.

Most shops warranty there alignment. When you install the 285’s, your shop should check/align for free.

Depending on which wheels you are going to run with 285's the JBA's might rub the tire if on stock wheels.

I've encountered this before on my Tacoma, went with Dobinson UCA for my TRDP / CF setup - but I'm running FJ steelies.

The answer is no. You do not need to re-align after changing tires. Alignment is independent of the tires or wheels and does not change if you change tires/wheels. The only reason you might want to re-align it when changing tires would be if you want to adjust caster so you can eliminate a rub somewhere. You'll need to install them and see first.

I buy Firestone lifetime alignment with every vehicle I’ve messed with the suspension on. It’s worth it.

Do you possibly have the estimate from FireStone showing they will honor the lifetime alignment on a modified vehicle?

I always go to a Firestone since its the closest to my house and they do not sell the lifetime on vehicles with modified suspension. I never argued because they weren't trying to rip me off and I figure it was valid since I didn't mod the suspension.

But If I can get them to give me lifetime I'm all for it. Unless it is just for this one Firestone.

I don't have a document I can validate this with, but I also get a Firestone lifetime alignment on new vehicles and they never have blinked at aligning lifted vehicles.

Firestone shops are independently owned and operated so all I can tell you is my local Firestone will align mine knowing that I have modified it and I even discussed that i just put the 6112’s on the front and am debating on raising the front and rear another inch. My Firestone service guy said well if I do bring it right back and that if I do any off-roading I should bring it in 3-4 times a year to keep everything within spec. I’ve had many vehicles over the years that I’ve lifted and always bought the lifetime alignment. A regular alignment in my area is $99 everywhere. $199 for lifetime knowing I’ll be tweaking and changing parts pays for itself in short time. They run a special once a year and never let it out ahead of time when it’s going to be but it was already done on Presidents’ Day this year where it’s only $125 for lifetime

All of the firestone shops in northern Utah closed except one or two that are not close. I think there's only one left in Utah now.

I never did argue because I wouldn't want to honor a lifetime alignment when someone mods the suspension either.

Not looking to rip them off I figure I just ask again.

I won't be due for another alignment for a while. My thing has been a garage queen. I might hit 1K miles this year.

You sure they are independent? I'm almost certain they are corporate. Their warranty and lifetime services are honored at all locations.

Edit, corporate:
