Wrapped the roof and installed a Roof Rack.

After reading and watching the video for Victory 4X4's Roof Rack installation. I see that they recommended a strip of 3M PPF for the Front and Rear Valences. So I decided to have the roof wrapped instead. I think it looks pretty good. 6 months of ownership and I think I'm almost done modding for now. "for now"..lol

Looks excellent. Glad you replaced those factory sliders that have the welded on steps that would get hung on rocks. Every time I see those steps (can't remember what Toyota calls them, Predator?) I think of the truck as a mall crawler.

This looks really great! Did you do the wrap yourself? If so, what product did you use, and any tips/tricks/gotchas?

Regards,
Dubbz

Agreed the black looks nicer but out here in the desert, that makes a hot interior even hotter when parked. Can't see it under the rack either so I'd probably go with white too.

Truck looks great though. Any issues with the full length rack and sunroof?

Surprisingly the color of the roof (or whole car) makes almost no difference in how hot the interior gets.

About 10 years ago a group of engineers at work had this debate. So we decided to settle it. We wired up two identical rental cars with Type T thermocouples and data logging equipment and parked them under the hot summer sun on a back lot at the plant. The dark car got hotter faster, but topped off at the same temperature as the lighter car. We duplicated the same test with tinted vs. non-tinted windows. Same thing. The tinted car heated up slower, but eventually reached the same internal temp as the non-tinted car.

Great idea, that looks nice.
Hmm, how creative of a design/color can I do if I copy this mod? Especially since it is not viewable from the ground.

This looks good. I have been thinking about doing this too. If you have stuff on there all the time, the roof doesn't get cleaned often and if you don't put stuff on their off, it is exposed to oxidation so it makes sense to protect the original paint up there.

Looks sharp. Did you get the rain gutter or roof front mounts?

Really hoping Toyota makes the 6th gen with three point, full length roof racks in the future. Baffles my mind that soccer mom SUV's out there have this yet an adventure based, long running vehicle like the 4R only has the two point, short rails...

Nice. Kinda wish I did that before installing my rack but now I'm too lazy lol. I think I would of wrapped the spoiler black too...anything to help make the voodoo less bright. That victory rack is nice! Wasn't an option I think when I got the SSO rack.
