It's a great color. Keep this a few more years and you'll have a unicorn.

Agree with many others here…. IMHO: 2010-13 Trails are the best looking (inside and out) and most utilitarian out of 5th gen 4Runners… and maybe even best looking 4runner period!
My 2013 Trail still puts big smile on my face every time I drive it… and I still look back at it after I park it…
Even with many years has passed since introduction…. I still cannot get over
the look and “overhang” of the 2014+ front ends.
Cheers!
P.S. Some pictures from Moab trip

My 2012 salsa red TE with 95k miles still does it for me. Recently modernized the headlights with customized projectors with led shroud from
@ custom54
lighting, diode dynamics fogs, and a big font Toyota grill from custom grill. Was thinking bout trade-in for newer model for 30k plus but wat the point. Plus can do whole lot to The existing TE for that amount! Plannin to keep this truck forever although it rarely gets driven these days.

Retro fitting to projector headlights with HIDs has been my best upgrade so far...

As for the front, I thoroughly disliked the one I got until I got it. I now prefer it to the older design though I still like the 2010-3 and think it is very classy and timeless.

This thread makes me really happy. Glad to know there's others out there who like these like me. Here's my whole story, grab a cup of coffee I'm about to get long winded.
Back in 2013 when I was still in college I test drove a new Trail and knew that I had to have one. Fast forward to 2016 and I was finally in a spot to buy one, however I knew it had to be Pre-Facelift, Trail Edition, KDSS, Navigation, sunroof would be nice, and I wanted Salsa Red if I could help it. Then on top of that of course comes everything with buying a used car (location, condition millage, etc) I searched for almost a year and wasn't having any luck. The land rover I was driving was starting to show major issues and I wanted to get out of it before something big ($$$) went wrong. I found a magnetic grey in Idaho about 8.5 hours away from me and decided that I would finally do it. I talked to the dealer, told them i was coming. Friday I left work and drove about 6 hours, slept in the back of the land rover, woke up the next morning and showed up to the dealership right after it opened. When I arrived they told me they sold it the night before. "Are you F***ING KIDDING ME?!" They then tried to sell me a new one... I walked away.
Another few months go by. I had been relocated for work and sent to LA (not exactly where I wanted to be). An ad popped up in a web page since I had been searching for them so much. It was PERFECT! 2011 Salsa Red Trail Edition with only 28k miles. Here's the catch... It was at a Lexus dealership in Richmond Virginia! Work was nuts and there was no way I could go out and see it. At this point I live (and bank) in Montana, I'm on temporary assignment in Los Angeles, and this truck is on the other side of the country. Already long story short the dealership was great to work with, I put money down immediately to hold the truck. They sent me dozens of specifically requested photos of EVERYTHING, put it up on the lift full undercarriage shots, etc. The truck was then shipped to me across country and the rest is history.
I've now had Oliver (yes we name our rigs) for almost 4 years. My wife and I take him everywhere, and have done a bunch of amazing trips (I'm back in MT now). I don't see any reason we would ever get rid of him. Of course the building and projecting is never complete.
Attached is the first photo I took when he was delivered to the job site and a picture of how he sits now.

I've been in a position to upgrade this truck...I've never kept cars for much more than 100k miles, but I just hit 125k in my early 5th gen and I still get the same feeling I did when I first bought it.

The more I see these 2010-2013 TE’s the more I can’t believe that Toyota didn’t make more of these past that year range.
Any other appreciation threads anyone knows about? I see a lot of photo threads but I was curious if there were any specific 2010-2013 threads or even TE threads.

I have a black 2010 TE that I bought new when the Trail first came out .
I never new that the early years were so liked until after the second time someone stopped me on the street and asked if I was interested in selling it .
Getting ready to turn 65k on the odometer.

How would any know
I just picked up a 2016 TE and the only label is the 4runner on the back hatch. There's nothing anywhere that says 4x4, Trail Edition. So how would you know this is a Trail Edition. (yes it's a real TE, has all the 4x4 modes).
Thanks.

With the post 2014 ones, they'll have a hood scoop and different wheels.

let me know that i have an aftermarket grill...so if anyone is swapping grills out, i would love to buy the OG one. lemme know!
the person that owned it before me did a handful of mods and i wondered if they were on these forums, but i have never come across them. ah well.
still love mine! never gets old to look at and its still under 75k miles.
