Early 5th gen Trail edition appreciation
Like many people, I love the 5th gen 4R from 2014-on when they redesigned the grille. But let's appreciate how sweet the early 5th gen Trail edition looked. To me this is the best looking trim from that era.

From that ERA? lol, makes it sound so... OLD! And that picture looks ancient. It' still the best looking 5th gen if you ask me.

You don't see many TE's rolling around. Tons of 5th gen Limiteds, and tons of 3rd & 4th gens.

Redesigned grille looks like some retarded Michael Bay Transformer.
Fight me!

I definitely overlooked the early Gen 5 Trails during my quick search. Still love my 16 SR5 though.

Heh, these pictures are actually from a current cars.com listing. It's a 2012 TE with 32,000 miles on it. I'd buy this in a heartbeat... if I had 26 grand lying around.

To me the early 5th Trail looks the closest to the type of Toyotas they don't sell in the US but do in south america, australia, etc.

I agree all day with this. Looks heaps cleaner. Definitely in keeping with toyotas extensive off-road heritage.
The redesign is well...
Wish there was a conversion kit. Looks like a wrx and a civic inbreed to create an suv.

Bingo.
I think it is the best looking variant of 4Runner out there.
I wish my TRDP had that front end and black flares.

I love the look of the early Trail Editions. Almost bought a maroon one about a month back. But it had a sunroof as I believe they all did back then. I have a long torso and the sunroof doesn't meld well with that. But, as far as aesthetics I love this Edition.

Even with my '20 ORP in the garage, I really miss my "10 TE. Stupid Jeep fever last year got me to sell it. Got rid of the Jeep this year for another 4R. The early 5th gens were definitely the best looking. I'm doing everything I can to bring back some of that appearance to the new one.

The pre facelift Runners looked better IMO. I also liked the cluster better than what's in my 19. They are boring like in my GTO now.

Was holding out nearly a year for a Shoreline Blue, but settled with Salsa Red. IMO got it for a pretty good price with less than 50k on the odometer last year
