What do you use to clean suspension?

Seems like the most popular solvents are WD-40, simple green (not sure which kind), vinegar, degreaser, soapy water, lithium grease (?), and one thread was really high on coke... the soda. If you look hard enough, someone will say that any of these will ruin your parts. I'm kinda surprised there isn't a consensus on this.

I just bought a used TRD Bilstein suspension with < 20k miles, and I want to shine them up to look new before I install this weekend. Any of the above I should avoid? Thanks!

Simple green is a great one you can just pick up at the store or you may have it at your house.

Thanks everyone for the recommendation. Simple green it is. I'll try that tomorrow. Is that the "all purpose" version? I went to pick some up a while back, but there was all purpose, wheel and tire, and a degreaser all from simple green.

I would just get the all purpose green bottle there the same the only thing you cannot use it on is leather or suede.
