2015 Limited Blizzard Pearl, bubbleing and rust staining coming out from under rear toyota emblem.looks like a real pain to remove the emblem and camera to get at the rust.going to get a body shop to look at it.there is a youtube video on its removal.

side note, for toyota Blizzard Pearl touch up paint this does not adhere for me. i did a couple of small chips on the front hood and gave it a couple of days to cure before applying a clearcoat from the touch up pen.

this is my second attempt and also second touch up paint pen that i have tried.the repairs washed off in an touchless carwash.the problem maybe the clear coat as it felt soft after a week like tree sap.

So funny to run across this thread today- ironic because I took my 2017 in silver to the body shop today for a paint repair.. I was pressure washing bugs off of the grill surround and took a chunk of paint off about the size of a quarter.. took me a second to figure out WTH happened.. pretty sad- have NEVER had that happen before.. like others- LOVE the rig but the paint SUCKS

spent a good part of my day yesterday working on the white paint on my 15', paint wasn't one would say chalky as the dealer did a detail on it, not the best but it was still some protection / care lol.

i did a paint decontamination using meguiars iron removal, clay bar mitt, foam wash both exterior and under carriage. spent some time using my da and different products i had on hand as in meguiars 105 and 205, some scratch x and hard to remove all the swirls on this paint.

used my DA and meguiars ultimate polish went over the truck, this polish has lots of oils in it which helps the paint which it did, brought back that slick feeling and could tell a difference with one pass, did two passes with the polish.

used meguiars NXT 2.0 went over the truck 2 times by hand, with that and then two coats of meguiars hybrid ceramic liquid wax 2 times by hand, which i have to say was an awesome product to use, went on smooth, easy to remove and best part it didn't dye any of the black plastic trim on truck which is nice.

when i have more time in future i will have to look into spending more time on getting those swirls out more, but not all that worried as the car will see a tunnel wash once a week or more depending on our great chicago weather thru out the year.

overall turned out great, wife feels doing all i did brightened up white paint which is what i was looking for.

yes i use alot of meguiar's products, they have always been a great to me, from the consumer line and pro line. and i like that if i run out of something i can pick up at the local parts store and the harbor freight near me has a few pro line products as in 105 and 205 which are my go to.

2012 black TE, 195,000 miles, no paint issues or rust issues at all and I live on the coast and drive through saltwater floods more frequently than I'd like. Seems to take the biggest toll on wheel bearings. Plenty of pin stripes and small dents though.

Until recently, I was averaging 3K miles a month on my 2016 TE. I've had mine for 3 years now with 102K on the ODO. I think the MGM color does a good job hiding the chips and scratches. With a vehicle like the 4Runner, I don't look to the quality of paint. I can see why people would care about it though.

Not noticing oxidizing yet. I will say that my paint is chipped all over. Pin stripping is pretty bad (Arizona), down to primer in some areas, paint generally seems weak.

Good clay bar session would take care of most of it but, you can only do that so many times, and it’s not like I’m going to stop going down trails.

Figure a respray or bedliner is in the future at some point. For now... touch up pen :/

yup to both of these. I have a '19 black. It has 15k miles on it and is pinstriped to hell, thanks to UT, AZ, CO, and NM trails. has a bunch of other scratches too. If you breathe on it too hard, the white primer shows through. I've had mine 6 months and I've already given up on the paint. I plan on keeping this truck until it's dead, so I'll be repainting it at some point. probably in the next two years, the way things are going. Pretty irritating that such an expensive vehicle has such terrible paint, but oh well. Will be looking into some form of rhino liner or CARC paint as a possibility. I'm not going to stop driving on trails, so I might as well go tough with the paint.

For some reason the blues, reds and whites seem to have the most problems. The blacks, grays, and silvers not so much.

Geez, sorry to hear that. Typically black is OK. I hope the dealer/Toyota takes care of you.

I can say that my Nautical Blue came off the lot with all kinds of imperfections in the clear coat, meaning pits, chips, etc. Not real hopeful.

I think MGM is the sweet spot when it comes to Toyota paint. At least that's what I've observed.
