really that heavy to begin with.

I’m in Michigan we don’t have any rocks so no rock crawling all sand but I like the added protection to the body in the trails and parking lots. In Michigan they dump about a metric ton per mile of salt every day of the winter here so anything metal sucks and most sliders I see around have spots of rust in short time. So for me the added cost isn’t an issue to not have them look like crap in one winter. I’m going to have to look into these !!

Dont have to deal with much rust out here in the west thankfully. However, if I were anywhere near salted roads...yea i could see the value in these if i used them for a non supet hardcore crawler. My sliders are pretty dinged up and showing quite a bit of rust. Would be a whole lot worse if i drove on salted roads

haha just ignore him - thanks for the photos I am in all likely hood going to go this direction - tried spray can rust oleum (with prep) on my budbuilts and that lasted for shit after a winter, then went powder coating and it has held up better but now needs to be redone - either getting them line-X'd (basically the cost of a new sliders.... or going Aluminum. My skids are aluminum and while bashed to hell they have done the job. The sliders have some scuffs but nothing that yours would not hold up to - they should be used for skidding across things not violently dropping a 3 ton truck (with the amount of crap most of us have) on.

Glad pics helped. Lol, ya, everyone has different needs based on where they live and how they use their trucks for sure. With the exchange rates, no wait times and nice owner of a small company I feel these were a very fair deal especially for aluminum and the quality is as good as u could ask for. I would buy again and recommend.

I went with Greenlane because I live in Iowa and they use a lot of salt and on my previous truck I got trail damage on both doors when I was out west hunting but in different years.

Quoting myself because I did end up replacing by BudBuilts with Greenlane and got a chance to use them out in Utah recently, they held up just fine to the couple impact events that occurred, as expected. Also replace the RCI skids with a new set (both were/are Alu.) - like the new design from RCI vs the original , no complaints having to replace them after the abuse they sustained.

You should get it powder coated. The base aluminum needs a protective coating. Not coating it was a serious mistake.

Powdered aluminum with proper conversion coating and metal prep can easily withstand 3000 plus hours of B117 salt spray and comparable hours of the more rigorous G85 cyclic testing.

Take it off and have somebody prep it and coat it, youll like it better long term.

Most sliders work with the Limited. But you either have to space the XREAs pump booster outwards on shims/spacers or go around it. You have some play with the hardlines if you space outwards from the frame. Sometimes you need to drill a couple of holes and use stakenuts to secure it. I spent ages putting sliders on my Limited..even dropped one on my face during install, just missed knocking out my teeth. Anyhow, once I was done... i then a month later ripped out the whole XREAs thing, but it can be worked with all the same. I have no comments on KDSS ones as I havent seen the layout.

I'm really curious to how these hold up. I'm a huge fan of using aluminum in places where it makes sense. My skids are aluminum and so is my front bumper but my sliders and rear bumper are steel and there is a reason for that. Both are places that frequently get a good amount of weight dropped on rocks.

Not sure if sliders not designed to carry the truck's weight would be good for this application. I'm sure there is a way to do it with aluminum but obviously these aren't engineered to do that. A shame since it would be nice to save more weight.

I've considered aluminum, but was wondering about the beating they would take. Where were you having fun here in Utah? Did you get some good obstacles to slide off of? I like new ideas to solve old problems, and less weight that can take a bounce or two is a good idea.
