Greenlane off-road aluminum sliders

Took about a week from time of order, I opted to skip the powder coat.

Donovan the owner answered the phone and promptly returned emails. Super cool guy to deal with!

Quick shipping, great packaging, amazing quality (look at the welds and design) and super light weight. Didn’t weigh them but it might say on their site if I remember, around 25lbs. Great attention to detail, everything filed/grinded smooth. Perfect fit as far as holes lining up, etc. Zero issues with install. Took a cpl hours, with a floor jack it’s a one man job, all you need is a 12mm and 13mm socket/ratchet, 28 bolts, 14 per side.

I know in the last people wondered if you can use a high lift with them..... I say ya, they flexed a little but nothing happened. Might be different on the trail but at that point my priority would be to get home not worry about damage to my sliders. Just changing flats in anything not extreme? No problem.

Hope this helps anyone on the fence. Canadian exchange rate made them about $700. Support a small business.

Interesting. Considering sliders from Greenlane as well but w/ full top plate. In the description it says "but not designed to be used as a high lift jack point." Definitely not a deal breaker for me.

Yup. We drive on the beach a lot so we will see how salt effects it.

I looked at the website for Greenland. It looks like they are using 5052 grade aluminum. This is considered “Marine Grade”. It’s the same thing they make aluminum boats out of so you should have no issue with corrosion.

It’s not the highest strength aluminum but it’s probably the best grade for that application.

Those welds look very professional!

Any chance you can post some more shots of the truck from different angles? I'd like to gauge how functional they are as steps compared to OE steps

So has anyone used these offroad? I'm in the market for sliders right now and have been thinking about going either RCI or Arctec. Greenlane is a really interesting option due to the Al construction however. Saving 50 plus pounds of weight is super tempting.

I love the weight savings of aluminum gear considering that I see this stuff more as an insurance policy if I get in a bit over my head. I've found with good tire placement and a spotter that you generally are not going to use sliders a ton unless you're in difficult terrain and deliberately going after big ledges and boulder fields and what not... Maybe in a few years when my truck isn't as new, but right now would rather not...

Jacking is probably the one concern, but I see that probably only as an emergency thing if I have to do a tire change in a dicey situation.

Thanks for pointing out the Artec stuff, I haven't seen those before. Their photos on the site are terrible. I'm going to have to search to forum, here. They just jumped way up on my list, because I have a limited and these look like they completely replace the side skirt. Normally, a limited owner has to purchase TE trim ($$) or hack up the stock trim. If they replace the side skirt and serve as a step, they are looking perfect for me.

I love aluminum, like you. Weight is big, but I also hate rust

well, nix that. In the Q&A they say it doesn't work with the limited. Weird, lots of companies' sliders work with Limited, and only have a different model for the KDSS trucks.

That's because of the lower rocker trim on the limited trucks - you need to lower the sliders to get under it.

Shrockworks (maybe others too) makes a rocker delete kit you can purchase, then you can run any sliders your heart desires! lol

Yeah, the Arctec sliders are a unique style from what I can tell for 4Runners. There is some stuff like that out there for Jeeps, but not much other than tube sliders for 4Runners (one other option is Slee's step sliders).

They are EXTREMELY heavy though if you go to the full width versions. Around 143 to 150 pounds a set from what I can tell.

Another interesting option is SDHQ that makes Chromoly sliders that come in under 100 pounds a set while probably being just as strong as steel (if not more so). They're based here in Arizona so I can avoid freight charges, but they are VERY expensive (around $1300 to $1400 a set since they also charge a huge amount for powder coat).

If that's the only issue I guess they're in the same boat as others. With the limited pictures available on their site, the artec ones looked like they might actually sit in place of the rocker trim on any model. That was my hope, anyway. I am aware of that shrockworks piece, thanks though. I really like the RCI 5degree design. And I like the aluminum of these greenlane sliders.

I will try and take some for you today. I think they would be great to access the rack unless your cross bars sit on top of a tent as in my case.
