Need New Tires

I need to get new tires for my TRD Pro and I will admit I'm a bit of a poser in that it probably will never go off-road but I do like the appearance of a bigger tire. What do you recommend for that bigger look but not needing the ruggedness of say a KO2?

I would get a good street tire, but just bump it up a size from stock. You probably don't want any weight that you don't need. 275/70/17 will fit fine with no rubbing, but will give you the size you're after. Michelin defenders have been great on my wife's car.

This is assuming you're not dead set on an AT tire, even though you don't need it.

The KO2 is halfway between a poser tire and a true MT, so I'd go with the Rugged Trail as one step below that.

If it's appearance you're going for and not going off road, then Ridge Grapplers in a passenger load seems like the best choice IMO. Ridge Grapplers come in passenger versions in 265s and 285s depending on the size you want. I think the 265s still measure a bit larger than factory 265s.

Hope you don’t go thru what I just did. I have 2020 Pro and tried 10ply Falken in stock size. Love the aggressive look. Problem could not get them balanced. I had them mounted on my new SCS wheels and between 50 and 60 wheel shake. Tried another set same thing. Had them switch to the 4ply Falken same thing. Had them put back on stock Nitto Terra grapplers G2’s. Steering wheel no shake. Can you believe that. I was not going thru getting them road force balanced. There are posts on where guys tried that and still did not work. Just a little info.

I can believe it. I've never owned a Goodyear tire I liked. Sumitomo was in business for several years with Goodyear. Sumitomo is the parent company of Falken. I felt it was likely that some of Goodyear's poor quality might have trickled down...

Recently a buddy of mine and manager of a national tire chain told me his company has had lots of problems with Falken tire uniformity.

Based on his recommendation for a moderate A/T, and my own research, I went with the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015. It is as quiet as the Dunlops that came on my 4Runner, but these are much better in the rain, snow, and the trails it's been on since they were installed. Much better in the rain than the KO2's I had on another vehicle.

No vibration or shimmy up to 80 mph. They are a firmer ride than stock being LT265/70R17 E, but it doesn't bother me.

Had an issue where 4 out of 5 of mine were out of round (Early 2019 manufacture group). Tirebuyer got me a new set that was made a few months later and had no issues.

For what it’s worth, I’m on my second set of Falkens with no issues. They do tend to take more weight to get them balanced compared to other tires though. Back in March I had a mobile guy come out and transfer the tires from my factory wheels to a new set of FN wheels and he confirmed the same thing. He said they sell a bunch of the Nitto and Toyo tires and they usually don’t take much weight to get them balanced. When these Falkens are done, I’ll probably try something else.
