So I’m seeing a lot of mods/alterations and I’m curious... is your vehicle paid off? Is it still under warranty?
The reason I ask is because if you change the radio or something other components of your warranty would still be covered, like the suspension system. But with the suspensions changes, tires changes, alterations that add a significant amount of weight that combined with people and items would put you over max allowable vehicle weight, etc. you’re really risking the powertrain/transmission warranty.
.. that’s the warranty aspect I would be most worried about.
I’m a little worried to make too many changes because of the warranty being voided so I was just curious.
The only alteration I made is adding a front facing camera that pulls less than an amp and is hooked to the radio that is of course fused. So if my camera shorts no big deal. The chance of it frying my ECM, or messing up anything, is impractical.
But some of these mods....

still under warranty. still paying it off. no mods though. not because of warranty but i'm broke right now lol.
as a dealership technician (not toyota) we would have to prove that your modification caused the component to fail. With that said, theres a bit of a grey area. if the guest is say a long time dealer customer or a frequent visitor that spend dollars with us, we can help you as best as we can within the warranty limits and sometimes even with the help of management or dealer reps. as long as the damage you caused doesnt obviously point to it.
that last thing we want to do is deny a warranty claim, no one wins in that situation. the tech and service writer wastes their time and the customer is upset and disappointed and probably would take it to another dealer who would warranty it.
