Here's some industry knowledge: I worked for NAPA years ago, and Monroe recommends 50,000 miles life on shocks and struts. They brought a driving demo around to our area, and set up duplicate road courses in a large parking lot with maneuvering and emergency stopping set up. Then they had duplicate vehicles that had old shocks/struts and replaced shocks/struts to drive. Because the suspension wears down over time, you'd never realize the difference until it's right there side by side in front of you. Plus, the secondary wear item when those shocks/struts get worn is braking. Without the car being held correctly, the center point and weight shift, and you start using up front pads quicker, and can heat them up more to the point of failure (in extreme conditions).
So many of us here are changing them out to upgrade, lift, level, etc. but just some more food for thought for all of your vehicles.
