GPS Interference on iPhone

Anyone notice GPS interference on their iphones when mounted on the center air vent?

Noticed this on my gaia tracker:

You can see where the purple path is offset from the trail

I haven't had tint installed yet.

I switched to the toyota in-car nav and it showed me on the forest road, but when looking at Gaia / google maps it was offset few hundred feet from the road.

Doesn't happen in my other car so I don't think it would be from the phone.

The straight line looks like you lost your sats at some point. It could be a bad signal if you were in a bunch of trees and it's inside the cab. It's need line of sight to at least 3 sats to be accurate.

Some GPS will use inertial sensor to approximate the movement from the last location when it can't see the sats; however, I'm not sure that's valid on a phone in a truck off road?

There is also a bread crumb feature in the factory nav. I found it very useful when you are exploring dense areas.

Yeah, it lost signal few times on the way back down. On the way up it tracked the trail pretty good.

Weird thing is it never happened in my other cars. I drive up there frequently and usually just leave the maps on CarPlay running and the vehicle on the road, but first time up in the 4runner and it was all over the place. I will try mounting the phone further up on the dash to see if it has less interference.

When using the factory nav there weren't any issues and it was very accurate

That's actually quite a nice feature! I don't suppose there's any way to use this built-in system and export the breadcrumbs? Or download to phone?
