If I hadn't taken a $10000 hit on my 2020 Rubicon mistake, I would've gone Pro. When I buy new vehicles, I tend to go with the top model of what I want because I don't want to feel like I missed out. I also don't do lifts and such because my off-roading doesn't really require it. It's the same idea in the Jeep world... if you're going to heavily mod, there is no sense paying the premium for a Rubicon as you're going to replace almost everything anyway. Therefore, my Rubicon was a heavily-optioned $59K one (though I got a good % below invoice on it, but still).

After about 5 months of not really enjoying the Jeep, it made me want another 4Runner. So, getting the 4Runner a few months later, I couldn't justify another $8-10K for the Pro over my '20 ORP ($40K pre-COVID purchase price). I would've liked to have the JBL sound system, auto headlights and climate, shocks, etc. And the dealer didn't have any Pros the day I bought mine, or it might've still happened. Regardless, ORP it was for me.

As a result, Ive had to spend:
- $800 for new BFG KO2's because the factory tires. Sold those for $400 so not too bad.
- Pro LED foglight for about $100.
- Infinity Ref speakers to help the stereo out... $80
- Rear sliding cargo deck for $500+shipping and packaging.
- Pre-facelift Trail roof rack for a few hundred.
- TRD skid plate that will cost about $300.
- Etc.

I did save some money but that margin is being eroded. Now that I have it and doing what I want to make it better, I'm good with ORP vs. the Pro. It's not like there is enough difference to make me want to go through the process again anytime soon.

I would like a small size and more capable off road.
If I got the TRD Pro yes I would leave suspension stock just can’t see messing with the Fox Shocks.
The OR I would most likely only lift 2 inches at most.
I test drove a TRD Pro and it was nice.
Being from Iowa would you undercoat it for rust prevention ?
Just FYI I always carried tire chains for a Truck would I need them on a 4Runner ?
I just throw the deer in the back and make sure they’re on the cargo mat and clean out later.

if you are considering a winch, especially steel cable, then get an ORP since the added weight up front will probably require a coil swap to something heavier. I got rid of my stock sr5 coilovers, same ones on the ORP for icons, when I added my sso slimline and smittybuilt 12K, I had to crank the pre load collars to maintain my ride height, essentially adjustable spacers. mind you, the Icons are a bit stiffer than stock and I have lighter, synthetic cable.

honestly other options, if you really want to get exactly what you want and don't mind modding it to hell would be an sr5 or base/used lexus gx460.

you can always add lockers to an sr5 and if you really want crawl control, you can add that too... if you need it.

also, the gx460 comes in V8

PRO spelled backwards is ORP

I was dead set on buying a 2018 cavalry blue PRO, but after lurking this forum for months I new I wanted to do several mods such as suspension, aftermarket audio upgrade and a Gobi rack to name a few. It simply didn’t make sense to pay a premium for components I was just going to replace. I wasn’t I love with the AG color either, but I see why others like it. The ORP gave me the best bang for my buck and a great platform for me to build what I wanted.

It really comes down to what features are important to you and if they are worth the premium or not.

I've been happy with my Off Road (non-KDSS) with Eibach Pro Truck Lift.
The difference in price between the OR and the PRO is significant enough that it allows for lots of modifications.

Do the fox shocks in the Pro make on-road driving BETTER or WORSE... or zero difference?

What about compared to an Off Road with a lift?

How much more was the cost? Here in Canada the MSRP is +$10,000 more for the Pro.
