I've always found the 4Runner to be like a very tall, heavy and slow Miata with a lot more room. Sorry in advance for the proof photo of my old Runner but I have bought many pics from the same people when I'm on the Dragon in the Miata.

So it's been three months with my 5th Gen 2020 SR5-screen-shot-2016-05-16-11-22-02-pm-jpg

I just went through the same thing with a $59K '20 Wrangler Rubicon, which was a sports car relative to the 4Runner. It was my 8th Jeep and a well-researched purchase. Even sold my paid-for '10 TE 4Runner to make me quit questioning the purchase. But a few months later, I am back in an equivalent but new '20 ORP that is almost as good as my '10 TE and it only cost me $50k to get back where I was. It happens.

You might be the only person that a) considers a Liberty a Jeep, and b) likes it...

To quote an article on why it was discontinued:
Quote:
More than anything else, the Liberty was a poorly designed and manufactured vehicle that was largely considered an insult to the Jeep brand. Consumers responded appropriately by ignoring it and Chrysler also responded appropriately by killing its short and uneventful production run.
I really wanted to read your post, but I couldn't see the words through the tears in my eyes when you praised your old Liberty. Fast?

Do you know what makes the 4Runner so good? All the things you complained about. It's big, slow-ish, heavy, fairly analogue, and an absolute beast.

Perhaps you'd be interested in a 6000SUX?

And that’s why I’m not opposed to the idea that Toyota should screen buyers. Someone like the OP shouldn’t be allowed to drive off the lot in a new 4runner.

This dude has to be trolling. No one owns a Liberty and actually likes it.

You bought a 5,000+ pound body on frame suv v6 and you expected it to be fast and exciting?! Name one year of 4runner that is fast and exciting. You won't find it because it doesn't exist. It's a reliable 4x4 that can take you places deep off-road and drive you home in relative comfort. Nothing more nothing less.

Then you talk about the 86 like it's exciting. What a joke. Have you ever driven one? Because, I owned one and I can tell you it's abysmally slow, requires far to much money to make fast, and has an engine made of glass. You want to talk about boring? Wait until you get gapped by a sienna. I did and immediately traded it in for a corolla which was not only faster with the "gearing" of the cvt but, more comfortable, and economical. Not to mention it doesn't sound like a noisy fart. That car does one thing well go fast around tight corners and drift equally tight corners. But, the moment those corners or the road opens up prepare to be let down every time.

Sounds like you put no thought into this purchase. Now you have buyers remorse want to lament in a dedicated forum about how you can casually wasted good money.

Guess what nobody cares.
My 2003 V8 with TRD Supercharger & Borla dual exhaust sitting in my driveway. High fourteens at Firebird (PHX) and PIR (Portland) friday night drags- mustang 5.0 confused as pulled them in 1/8th miles but sadly the 4R/brick doesn't trap with a high 1/4 speed.

Picked up my 70 YO parents from airport, pull up to light and Dodge Challenger dude pulls up, I blip, he looks over- mind you he's on passenger side so he sees two 70 YO peeps in 4R with Rocket box. We hammer down and he lights up the tires 2x and we pull him a lot, then neck & neck for a bit before he pulls me. Yes he is way faster, but losing the tires and letting a 4R pull him a bit was sure a surprise to him.
And then sadly CAFE standards killed the V8 line.

But yes I get what your saying 100%. Reminds me of the guy who sold his nicely outfitted rig because he thought it wasn't business enough and bought a sedan. Yuck, No, Never. Poor bastards here laying on the ground trying to put on chains in winter so they can get over the pass or to the ski resort- hell no. Putting on chains to go snow wheeling - Yes.

Dammit man! I tried to delete my comment after I seen the comments where already a slaughter fest.

But, reading/writing all this makes me want something light with a ton of displacement. C7 ZO6 was to be one of the craziest cars I have ever driven. Nothing like an 55 to 85mph burnouts and fat drifts initiated by the throttle pedal alone. I don't have 60k lying around for toys. I'd also would like to keep my license and current insurance rates.

Your v8 runner sounds like fun tho.

Ha! I have a 2019 TRD Pro and a 2019 Miata Club. COMPLETELY opposite vehicles. It’s fun to switch back and forth. Neither gets boring that way.

Either a she or “he” was on something when he wrote that post. Maybe gender fluid?

No worries the V8's & TRD Superchargers where but a scant few years.

When I lived in Chandler a good friend had really nice Z06- I was scared I would wreck it. My buddy prob bought sold 20 cars a year of all kinds, we used to go down off the 202 on Pecos between McClintock and Chandler dr- as the road parallels the high way with no side streets to test out what ever new thing he got.
We weren't the only ones using that street to hammer down. We watched some kid in prob his dad vette turn left of Pecos onto Chandler, drift then over correct into a squared edge median, toasted the rear wheel.
My buddy was the one who was took me to Firebird with the 4Runner. Good times for sure.

My 4Runner SR5P is a beast and has chewed through anything I’ve thrown at it. Love. When it’s time to go fast I’ll hop in my 911

Crud..... And here I thought it would handle like a Go-Kart.

Maybe some people just shouldn't be allowed to make purchases on their own?
Some people need adult supervision.

You know this is the same kind of guy who buys a motorcycle and complains of the lack of roof or that the beach is too sandy and the water is too wet.

I'm glad I skipped the OP and read the comments instead.

I remember my cousin getting a jeep liberty. She was so excited her dad was buying her a jeep. A year later she hated it so much she was trying to trade it in for some used truck but the trade in value was so bad she couldn't get rid of it. A few weeks later it was mysteriously totaled in a 1 car accident with no injuries. I'm not saying for sure it was insurance fraud, but it is quite possible she committed a felony in order to get rid of it. Jeep liberty, a car so shitty it's worth going to jail to get rid of it.
