Square Push Button Switch

Does anyone sell a push button switch for the slot by the terrain selector?
I checked the usual sites such as AOB, but nothing I could find.
Plus something fun I received

i believe that's a proprietary size toyota switch. the only use is for the SOS button that some models have (limited and maybe others?)

chances are you'll have to retrofit a switch in there

You should be able to remove that blank, install your switch in it, and snap it back in. If you damage it, you should be able to order another. Finding a ready made one to fit that spot is going to be difficult.

Thanks. I’ll go to the junk yard to see if I can find a safety connect SOS switch or any square switch that will fit. If not then I’ll retrofit (jury rigged/jerry built) something. I do like ready-made.

There is not much room behind that blank. I tried to put a locker switch there.

Passenger Eject sticker, or a turbo boost sticker? anything better than a blank.

OP, you mean like this?

I standard "small" pushbutton made for our trucks will fit there, rotated 90 degrees to horizontal. You just have to make a mounting point for it from behind.

I removed the blank and built up a mounting pad out of several 1/16" plastic sheets that are screwed into the same mounting hole as the blank was:

CruiserHeads will do a custom button image, rotated horizontal and centered if you contact them.

Know this is old but wanted to see if anyone could answer where you pulled the illumination from in this console? Have pretty much the same setup, just curious where to pull the interior lighting from?

I guess I should add, I have installed these switches on the left side of the steering problem. In the overhead console, there are a couple of green shades and I believe two "grayish" wires in the wires feeding the switches. Afraid to take a multimeter to these and poking as these wires are so small, might ruin them. Thanks!

I can't remember the color of the wires, but the other 3 (stock) buttons also have the illumination wires. Don't use a multimeter...use a plain old test light. Alligator clamp to metal ground and poke a wire with the pointy end with the truck off and parking lights on. When you get a light on the test light, turn the parking lights off and see if the test light goes out. That gives you your positive (12v) illumination wire (and you'll note that all 3 stock buttons have the same function on the same wire color).

Then you need to find negative illumination, which goes to the dash rheostat for dimming. Once again, it'll be a color wire that all 3 stock buttons share. Use a sewing needle in the alligator clamp this time, and poke it into a candidate wire (keep the pointy end of the test light in the +ILL wire). Turn the parking lights on, and turn the dimmer all the way up (bright). When you get a good test light, run the rheostat down and see if the test light's brightness dims. BAM! you're done.

Thanks for the tips! I never thought to use a needle on those small gauge wires. Brilliant. Probably going to cheat and bring the previously wired switches, tie into those, run the wires up, and use those wires for my illumination as I know they are accessible and work. Those overhead consoles are pricey!
