fitting -38 SCS wheels without a lift?

anyone here fit stock size tires on SCS 7x9 -38 wheels without lifting? I bought the wheels because they were finally available at a time when I had the money. I haven't had the time to figure out what lift I'm buying, much less buy it and have it shipped to me. I have to travel across country and my car is already packed, don't want to put the wheels on top and potentially have them get stolen. Don't want to spend $150 to ship them to myself, plus I don't have anywhere to ship them to.

I know i'll have to do BMC and cut fenders. I don't care. just wondering if it will be doable if I do that.

Adding a lift wont make them fit. Not sure about the stock tire size, offset, and rub but you may have to cut some stuff (as you mentioned above).

that isn't my question. I know that I have to do mods to make them fit with a lift. I'm asking if it is worse without the lift. Meaning can I do the BMC and fender/plastic cuts and get them on there now and do the lift later.

Sorry, didn't understand your question!

If you do a proper BMC/Fender cuts, it should fit fine without/with lift.

You'll be fine

-38 is pretty much the same as using a 1.25" wheel spacer on a smaller offset wheel and there's plenty of 5th gens who run that without a lift

17x9 -38 sticks out 2.1" further than Trail/Trd Off Road or SR5 wheels and 1.7" further than TRD Pro wheels.

if I'm not mistaken, the outside edge of the wheel actually sticks out 72.1mm further than a TRD OR wheel, which is 2.84 inches. the inside of the rim is 34 mm farther out, which is close to a 1.25 spacer.

for the record, after doing a BMC, moving the fender liner, and removing the front fenders (I did all of this before test fitting the wheels, as I didn't want to have to drive back to my house with them rubbing etc), with stock size tires and no lift, the tires rub on the front plastic edge of the wheel well (the part tucked under the body) at full lock going in reverse, and that's it. They look like they would rub on the fenders at full lock, if I had left them on. A small amount of plastic trimming and it'll be all good.

You can just use the template they use at port to cut the TRDP if you want to be precise. Otherwise, painters tape and a dremel works

5 minutes of work with an angle grinder and it's all good. no rubbing. looks way better than the stock wheels. looking forward to getting the lift and tires done, but it looks pretty good for having street tires.

excuse the tire mounting grease.
