My rear camera picks up great video even though it is behind window tint. Both front and rear provide a wide camera angle. I have been contemplating an interior camera for that very reason. There are some dual ones on the market that have an exterior and interior camera in one unit.

Much appreciated. Is there a dual unit brand that you have looked into?

Rexing V1 has been great so far. Easy install, Easy to record, good quality (1080p with decent refresh rate). Only issue is no reverse facing camera which I believe is available in a more expensive kit.
Have pulled license plates numbers from a commercial rig that cut / flipped me off and reported it to the owners. Even compiled my trail video form the dash footage (see below)

I just ordered the Aukey dash cam that is mounted on the windshield, hopefully I can mount it right with my 5% tint strip.
I ran a $20 china cam for two years with no problems !

I went with the Blackvue DR900S-2CH with a rear custom mount, using this thread for ideas to mount the rear, running the rear wire hidden along the drivers side headliner. I also increased the storage to a SanDisk Ultra 256 GB Micro SD.
I need to play with the cloud option a bit more to determine if I'm going to stay with the free option or upgrade to the pay option ($12/month)
So far so good.

I did a while back when I was shopping around, but can’t remember the brand.
Did run across this article today. Popular Science

Of course Blackvue is great, but it's pricey. Check out the Rexing line on Amazon, particularly the V1. I've been running two for about a year and they are very good.
|
I have the V1 as well, and just noticed after months of it being installed that it is not recording. I have to press the button after start up, is yours the same? I have a ticket into Rexing, but they are horrible to respond so far.

I installed and am liking the Nextbase 522GW...
Dash Cams | Award Winning In Car Cameras | Nextbase US
It's got some nice features one of which its it comes free from the bast so you can hot swap one camera to multiple cars assuming you have the base installed.
It's not perfect but its been pretty great.
Where did you get broken into if you don't mind me asking...
I'm also in the Bay Area and going hiking a lot, so I'm curious.

Thanks for this feedback. What % tint? Video still clear at night?

15% tint. Some different screenshots of day and night.
I do like being able to view a clip and have the option to switch to the rear clip at the same point (paused clip). The video is a lot brighter when playing, but that pic would not load.
The last dark shot is with all the car lights off.

My mounting setup. Blend mount in the front. Provided mount in the rear. Both are out of the way with no issues.

I run two dual-channel dashcams. Yes, that's 4 cameras. One facing front, another one rear, and two facing outward on each side. I took the cameras from my previous car when I sold it. In that car - I put them in after a hit-and-run. About 6 months later, I was sideswiped by someone on the freeway. I caught everything on 3 cameras and uploaded the footage to my insurance company - other party was completely responsible. :-D
2 Cameras: Thinkware F800 Pro
2 Parking mode dedicated batteries: Cellink Battery B
Have had for two years now, they're rock-solid.

Thanks for the suggestion. There's a good amount here that I've been looking into.
I was in the hills above Oakland off Redwood Road. It's especially busy with drivers and bicyclists on nice weekends. I feel like someone should have seen this happen. Not that I would expect a passerby to intervene, but maybe provide a description. But it is what it is..

I've not had that problem with either, but it has also been some time since I've taken out the cards and looked at the recordings. I'll do that today. From what I've seen through reviews Rexing seems to have very good customer service. Hopefully they set you up.

I have an older Panorama X2. At the time it was one of the few that did full 1080p front & rear. It's basically 2 dashcams with a remote lens/sensor on the rear. I have no complaints about it, but I occasionally wish that I had sprung the extra bucks for a BlackVue instead.
