Alternatives to SiriusXM
I've had SiriusXM since 2006. I like it for the most part, but it's been getting expensive lately. I'm pay around $37 for two cars and I think that is too much.
I'm not a Howard Stern Show fan. I listened to him when he was out of Detroit on FM. I wouldn't pay extra for it or miss it if I didn't have it. I typically don't listen to Sports programming either.
My 2020 4Runner has CarPlay and we have Apple Music. I think we pay $10 for Music. Apple Music has some live radio stations, a lot of channels based on genre and albums to select from like Comedy and Jazz.
Are there others I should check out as alternatives too SiriusXM ?

Every time my Siriusxm subscription expires, I call and tell them I don't want to pay the regular price because it's too much and there are cheaper alternatives. They give me 6 months for $25-30 total with all the channels. Plus I get the online streaming, etc.

I always call to cancel the SirusXM right before I get billed every time.
Right now I've been paying $72 for the whole year for the last three years.
I also listen to Spotify and I Hear radio.

Yea, I do the same thing but it is a major hassle. You can always tell those you talk to are overseas as they operate via scripts and some have bad accents. One time I talked to a female with a foreign accent whose name was "Jason".

I am not sure what it would cost you to pay for just one subscription but most if not all Sirius subscriptions now include free access via their mobile app. This mobile app is Apple Carplay friendly.
You could then technically pay for the service in one vehicle and use the app, via Carplay, for free in the other.

I use Iheartradio - they have a bunch of their own stations, commercial free with much better quality than SXM, no fee, and it doesnt cut out every time you drive past a big building or overpass.

The thing that drives me bonkers about SiriusXM is that the quality is horrendous. It's like 96kbps or something, because it's signal bandwidth is so limited and it has to be heavily compressed. If it was lossless or something, I'd pay whatever they asked for it. Their hardware is just too far behind the times to pay anywhere near what they're asking, especially in a world with unlimited data and high-quality streaming services.
That said, I might renew. The convenience of having it integrated into the radio so seamlessly (my 2020 is awesome) really makes it hard to beat in terms of ease of use.
Just so you know, SiriusXM is offering some sort of deal at the moment because of the virus. You can get the Select subscription for like $60 a year ($5 a month) or the All Access for $99 a year ($8.25 a month). Here's the link to the form.

Thanks! Just emailed them. Always pissed me off that you can't cancel on-line, you have call them so they can try and talk you out of it.
By the volume of calls they are getting, it's obvious people are unloading unnecessary expenses because they got pay cuts or got laid off.

It's true. Thats what Im noticing. SiriusXM is integrated into the radio and I don't need futz around with my iPhone while I'm listening. I got the $5/mo for a year deal for both, mine and my wife's car now so thats what stopped my from canceling it outright.
There are a bunch of live stations on CarPlay too that I haven't listened to very much yet. But listening to Apple Music on a trip to the Jersey Shore didn't use much data.
HD radio is on there too, which is kinda cool with several stations on one channel.
There is a lot of competition for SiriusXM Ill try out over the next year

Has anyone noticed that XM has gone to more and more playlists? I travel at all times of the day and I hear stuff repeating more and more. Do like having the extra app channels though.

Hey, Sirius is now offering $5 per month again. Just renewed after the 3 month sub for my '20 ran out.
