To fit 285/70/17 or 285/75/17 tires on stock trd wheels without wheel spacers, which UCAs would work. Seemed like JBA will not. How about Dobinsons or SPC?

285/70/17 will fit with no lift and no spacers on trd offroad wheels. if you add spacers they will rub more.

Only thing I had to do was remove my mudflaps for 285s. Running the Falken M/Ts

Not worried about fitting the 285s on stock truck but rather one with stock pro wheels and aftermarket UCAs. I saw posts that wheel spacers were needed to run the JBAs. Wondering if the same is needed with dobinsons or SPC UCA.

I have those as well... do you have trouble keeping grease in that ball joint? Mine seems to run dry fairly quickly. And what grease are you using?

No- but the tire guys had a hell of a time getting the 16" tires on the 17" rims....

Had a brain fart on the 16" I have an FJC and an F350 that both run the 265/75-16 KO2's so I guess I was thinking of those- but they are 17's on the R.

I really wish 16" wheels fit on the 4R- I have a nice set of tires with little wear on the FJC but they are getting close to aging out...would love to put them on the 4R for some of my out west trips where I commonly put-8-10K miles on in 30 days or so.

We are running almost identical setups & we have almost identical alignment specs. I've got a 2018 SR5 prem, TRD rims, stocksize wildpeaks, and the Eibach kit. I have noticed no degradation in the handling, in fact after the Eibach kit was installed the handling improved greatly. Around town no issues, highway driving no issues, 2 road trips (400 miles and 1400 miles) no issues, and off road in Moab (the fairly easy stuff) again no issues. I too was debating UCAs but for now I'm thinking I will hold out. If my balljoints gave out, then I'd defiantly get new UCAs.

JBA control arms fit on mine with 285/75/17's on stock Trail wheels, but I did some minor clearance work (grinding) to make them clear at full steering lock. Would be great if one of the aftermarket companies would produce a stock style arm with 1cm relocate of the ball joint for $50 each. That's really all we need for most people. Alternative a simple set of offset bushings on the stock arms could also work just fine to fix the problem for a lot less $.

Also - just FYI - caster is measured to level ground. So the rear lift effects your caster measurement. The higher the rear goes, the less caster you have even if the front remains the same. It's roughly 0.5* of caster for every inch of lift. So if you measure caster and then add one inch of rear height and then re-measure caster again, it will go down by 0.5*. So someone who does a 2" front lift and 1" rear will have slightly different outcome from someone doing a 2" front and 2" rear.

On my 4Runner, I was able to get around 2.1* caster maxed out IIRC with stock UCAs and about 2" lift front and 1.5 rear. With JBA arms I measured IIRC to add around 4* caster by geometry. The drive quality is improved IMO, although not a huge amount with 4* caster vs 2*. When I crank up the height to 3" or so front, then the extra caster becomes more necessary for decent handling.

I've adjusted the height a lot over the years on mine and had a bunch of different settings and suspension setups. My overall conclusion - stock height is the best for ride quality. Ride quality degrades quickly as you pass around 2" of lift. Even with UCAs.

Which UCAs?

I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and just go for new UCAs when I have my Eibach kit installed, while I'm at it. I've seen lots of reviews for different brands, but mostly ones that require maintenance, like JBA. I'm pretty much looking for a set that is maintenance free and sealed, as close to OEM as I can get. Not currently in a situation where I can easily do the greasing. I think I've narrowed it down to Ironman Pro-Forge and Dobinson's. With a current discount, they're gonna be about the same price. Any advantage to either? Or a better route for what I'm looking for?

Application: 2014 4Runner Trail, stock Trail wheels, Eibach Pro Truck lift, hoping to fit 285/70R17 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. I've seen that some brands don't work as easily with 285s without spacers (JBA).

For what it's worth. I run the Eibach kit and JBA's with 265's on pro rims. Looking back i should have gotten the truck with the trail rims for that extra 1/2" of width. If you can get the caster you want without new UCA then you good to go. Find a good shop. just cause you can get "life time" alignments doesn't mean the tech will dial it in the way it should. Just my .02.

Ironman says 33" tires should be fine. I believe Dobinsons will work with 33"s as well. Be prepared to wait. Pretty much everything is on backorder.
