Did you just cut the tissue holder of the lid of the console?

The only time I secure a gun in my Lock'er Down safe is when I take it off to go into a post office or other restrictive environment...such as a courthouse.
And I never leave a gun in the safe for storage purposes, despite its relative security.
The Simplex lock version of the safe doesn't require any modifications.

I’ve got the Toyota “OEM” console safe. It’s solid and uses a more robust cam than I've seen on most of the others out there. No spring hold open for the door but it doesn’t need it. The door stays put in almost any position as is.
How have y’all secured holsters in there? I was going to rivet one to the side of the box but I’m sure there are some creative solutions out there.

I only secure my firearm in there when I'm entering a restricted area, work or doing something else... So I dont put my pistols in there...
I do have a gun magnet under the steering wheel when I'm driving around ...

It just unclips, if you give it a tug.

I have a LockerDown. I installed a magnet on the side. If I had to do it all over again... I'd get a LockerDown and put a magnet on the side. I freaking love it!!! I can put all kinds of stuff in there too!

Here's mine.
Tweaked an old holster and installed it. Holds most of my pistols.

I'm not a fan of pistols in condition one without a holster or at the very least something covering the trigger since I have other crap rattling around the console. That's why I don't like the magnet idea for myself.

How did you secure the holster? That's what I want to end up with but have no good idea how to secure the holster in there so it doesn't come out with the gun.

Drilled some holes in the side and bolted in.

I have a trigger guard mini holster when my ccw is under the steering wheel.
Only time it ever gets put in the console safe is if ; me and the fam is going into a no carrying restaurant or establishment. I've only encountered this in UTAH. I think don't quite understand the ruling about that but I follow the signs when I'm out of state just incase.

I also have the Lock'r Down with the same keypad and love it. My code is 8 digits (you can make it more if you want) so much harder to crack than 3. There is also a YouTube video of a guy that had a Console Vault that had been broken into. I also picked mine up in person when I was in San Antonio. Great people.
I like being able to go into the gym and leave my wallet and phone in the vault. Otherwise I would have to take it inside with me and that is a hassle. If I were to start over from scratch with a new 4Runner, the Lock'r Down would be the first thing I put in.

I also have a Lock’r Down in my truck. I love it; the only complaint I have is the lock seems a bit flaky... if I over torque the latch when locking it (even just a LITTLE bit) it will occasionally not want to unlock on the first try.
This requires giving the handle a little jiggle, entering the code again, and then it’ll usually open.
The first time this happened I nearly shit myself; I thought I was going to have to cut the damn box open 😂
