Midland makes a universal NMO mount for the hood that is looks very similar to the (same?) as the TRAM mount pictured above. Not a huge cost difference so I ordered one from Amazon among with a TRAM rain cap. I was able to install in on a couple of locations on the hood and ended up going with a similar mounting point to what others have done with the TRAM (passenger side upper left).

What bands are you running with that setup?

Personally, that's why I just drilled three NMOs in the roof, but I know not everyone will take that nuclear of an option

I use a mag mount and just run the cable through the hatch, to the front seat. I remove it when not in use.

I figured putting it on the roof is better because the antenna is higher, better for line of sight, since its a ground plane, it radiates the signal a bit better, but not a big deal if you're group is close together.

I looked into the Rago HAM Radio hood mount but the material is too thick for the NMO adapter.

I am currently using a TRAM universal lip mount which works but due to the curves of the T4R hood it doesn't sit flush and rather angled.
