NMO Antenna Hood Mounts?

I have the Midland MicroMobile MXT275 GMRS Radio and I am having difficulty finding a hood NMO mount for my Midland 3db Ghost Antenna. Midland phased out production of their 5th Gen hood mount for some reason. Anyone know of a company that makes an NMO mount that utilizes the hood hinges?

I looked into the Rago HAM Radio hood mount but the material is too thick for the NMO adapter.

I am currently using a TRAM universal lip mount which works but due to the curves of the T4R hood it doesn't sit flush and rather angled.

You can get a thicker NMO mount for the Rago, that's what I did. They sell them on amazon, they work fine.

I'm pretty sure those midland antennas need a ground plane, so keep that in mind.

I went with a Laird that doesn't require one.

Do you know of any companies that sell a complete thick NMO with cable and connector installed? I'm finding the NMO mounts but requires soldering either the cable or connector.

I have the same radio and mount, went with the Midland NMO mount and it worked. Though I ended up ditching the hood mount and going to the roof.

Did you use the Midland 4Runner hood mount or the Rago hood mount? Interested in selling it?

@Captain Planet

Thanks for those links. I just made an order. The solderless connector looks like a simply install.

Just know, with the thick mount, you may have to shim the mount a little with a big flat washer. lowes/hd will have them.

I had to do it to clear the hood on the bottom side.

Has no issues with function, and the washer is just the diameter of the antenna base, so you don't even know it's there.

Connector is easy, squish the prongs down just enough the get the threaded ring on and tighten from there.

Where is your Tram mounted? Mine is on the back edge of the hood and while not a perfect fit to hood contour it's good enough, especially for $20. Bend the antenna slightly so it is perfectly vertical and I think it looks just fine.

Shown without antenna with rain cap in place.

My TRAM mount is in the same location as MeefZah

Curious, by getting a good ground from the Rago mount so you sand the mounting area to bare metal? Won't that induce corrosion which is just as bad for a proper ground?

No sanding needed when installing an NMO mount. The underside bites into the metal when you tighten it down. Anything more than that shouldn't be necessary.

However with it exposed to the elements, you're going to get galvanic corrosion either way.

Personally, that's why I just drilled three NMOs in the roof, but I know not everyone will take that nuclear of an option

Did you check Midland? It looks like it's still legit there and I was able to add it to the cart, get shipping, and get to the customer info.

I called and spoke with their sales rep who informed me the item is back-ordered indefinitely, whatever that means. They have no ETA when it will show back up again. The rep thinks it might be discontinued because normally they can provide an ETA on when the next shipment might be coming in. The 4Runner mount, nada in their system.

I ended up ordering the Rago mount.

Half of the reviews on their website are about how it doesn't fit properly. They likely just pulled it.
