I have C-load KO2's. Looks like I will get about 40k out of them. Pretty loud too right now. Were great at first. Not sure if E load for some reason would get better mileage. Probably will try something else next time.

Consider weight....my .02c
Take a look at the spreadsheet I put together on the post below. I have listed various tire sizes and their weights. I settled on the Firestone Destination A/T2 @ P285/70r17 and couldn't be happier. Highway manners are excellent and no issues with balance. I have done a little off roading but nothing that would challenge the tire.
Good luck

Falken's
Hello, I am currently running a set of the Falken Wildpeak at3w's 275/70/17 on my 2012 sr5 and I've had them on for a few months now including off roading and a few short road trips (around 120 miles each way). So far I really like the tires and they make minimal road noise. As for mileage I am getting roughly 15.5mpg, down from my stock tires I was getting 17.5-18mpg. Off-road they do the job very well in combination with the A-TRAC system.
Hope this helps!

Good to know, as long as I’m not in the banshee howl territory of Duratracs, I think I’ll be fine. Are you swapping out solely due to the noise nuisance?

the noise really isnt terrible and isnt the reason im getting rid of them. i initially had trouble balancing them and now they have some uneven wear from getting knocked out of alignment a bunch of times. as soon as they stop performing well enough in the wet, i'm swapping them either for an a/t like the yoko x-at or toyo at3 or going for it at and getting yoko mt003... just cant find any reviews that speak to the road noise of those. if it's worse than how loud my RGs are now, i'd prob pass.

I'm about 50k into my KO2's right now and getting the same mileage I got on LTX M/S2 and the original Rugged Trails. I've gotten 70k miles out of the first 2 sets and think I'll get close to that with the KO2's.
The KO2's will not do well if you don't rotate them religiously. They like to cup and will get louder. Been happy with them other than that. The Rugged trails did well. The LTX M/S2's seemed to get flats easily from road debris. Hope this helps you out.
Oh, I've been getting 18.9 to 19 MPG for 198,000 miles so far, regardless of tires and driving, which is half city and half 60mph back roads and interstates.
Also, the Firestone detinations AT have always peaked my interest, dont know anything about them though.

I am now on my third set of 285/70/17's in the last 6 weeks.... Started out with Falken AT3's of which 2 weren't actually round. Warranteed those and put on the C load BFG KO2's which the tire shop couldn't get even remotely balanced.. And honestly although the BFG is usually my go-to tire I honestly thought they rode really hard compared to the Falkens (higher load rating) and I noticed a drop in fuel economy. Not surprising. So this week the tire shop claimed the silver bullet to cure my shaking truck was the new Toyo AT3. They looked good and reviews have been positive so that's what is on it now. By leaps and bounds the best on-road tire of the 3 but definitely not as aggressive looking. But they do look as though they will do OK off road. Truck still shakes from 55-65 though. Taking it in for road force balancing soon. These 20 year old tire techs just don't know what the hell they are doing.

Been down this road searching for one year. 20K on my factory tires. Buy tires next month. I too wanted the best mpg tires. No lift so I’m getting 275. Tire weight kills mpg. The lightest E load AT tires on the market are Firestone Destination X/T. I have decided to say screw it and am buying General Grabber ATX E load in LT275/70R17. 59 lbs per tire they are heavy. I plan on airing down on trails and just don’t trust the 48 lbs Firestone Destination X/T’s side walls.

I've been really interested in those Destination XTs also in LT275/70R17, but the low tire weight while being a plus for mpg is also a point of concern since I also feel like the sidewall strength cannot be that high on them. Combine that with the fact that Discount Tire pretty much told me they cannot get them currently (and I like going with them for the free life time balance and rotations).
Still trying to decide if I'll just do KO2s in C-load at stock size or go up to E-load in 275. I want something severe snow rated so it knocks out a few choices. The Grabber is an interesting option also though as it's a bit cheaper than the BFG and it seems like General has been doing pretty well with their tires lately.
Where did you get 59 pounds at? I see it listed at 56 on their web site.

Falken Wildpeak 285/70/17 SL on TRD Pro wheels w/ Spidertrax spacers on a lifted 17 TRD Pro w/ full length roof rack (ecotechne).
I'm averaging 16.8 mpg (315-325 mi per tank), mix of city/freeway.
Low road noise only at 35-40 mph that I've noticed, tires are grippy, and are great in the rain so far (driven during heavy showers, and also after those occasional rains that wash the road grime on the surface).
Super happy w/ these as an everyday A/T tire so far.

I'm in a very similar situation as you. I went with P285/70/17 Firestone Destination A/T's. They have some weight savings compared to other tires and won't put as big of a dent in your mpgs as most of the C, D, and E rated tires.
Their performance on the pavement, in the rain and offroad has been fantastic. I'm at about 20,000 miles on them right now. I think they'll go beyond 50,000 miles.

I've been running the Milestar Patagonia AT/R for the last 5k miles or so. Fantastic road tire and awesome in the rain.
