Went 4.56 and very happy. Running a 34" tire and all the added weight and does very well, feels like stock.
If you go 35" or bigger I would probably go 4.88.
just an opinion.

Your best bet is as said to search for re-gearing info. There's tons of info/discussions out there that couldn't possibly be re created here.
Bottom line though, considering the cost of a re-gear there's really no immediate cost savings on fuel and once there is it's negligible. I can only speak for 4:56 gears but performance wise all the gains are at lower speeds and off road. Results will vary significantly based on your setup, tire size and type, vehicle weight, other performance mods etc.
All that being said still happy with my 4:56 gears after three years.

I went with 4.88's when I installed the 35" tires. That was before my supercharger. I think if I had the blower before I did the gears, I might have gone with 4.56's just to drop the RPM at freeway speeds.
Without a blower, if you are going with tires bigger than 33's, I wouldn't hesitate on 4.88's, they really helped with acceleration, climbing etc. considering the taller tires and all the added weight (armor, winch, etc.). If a supercharger is in your future, then you might want to consider 4.56's instead as you won't need as much help for climbing, etc.

Trust me MPG doesn't get better with a S/C. gets worse since your foot seems to gain 10lbs.

I am running 35s with the 4.88s. Like everyone is saying, the mileage doesn't get better with the gears. Im getting about 13MPG on the highway..... Then again, its not my Daily Driver (Thank God). Mine is way over 7000 lbs

What are your RPMs at 75 mph with 4.88s? I might order 4.56 gears depending on how the SC changes things.
