Need help on pulling the trigger

Ok, I have a chance to buy from a private owner a 2015 Trail 62000 miles with a transferable Toyota platinum warranty(that is good for another year and 1/2 with 18,000 miles remaining) price negotiated is $24,500. Car is well taken care of and in excellent shape.

I currently have a 2003 limited V8 with 205,xxx miles runs great. I use the car for work mostly and driving up to the lake on weekends. I know I am going to miss the v8, but also know I need to buy something newer eventually. Was going to sell myself for around $3,500 - $4,500. (Not worried about towing anything as I have a Tundra)

The deal seems to be pretty good, since most of the dealers around here are charging 27k for the same vehicle with no warranty.

Thoughts? Thanks in advanced for your help.

Nice Price or Crack Pipe?

Nice price, assuming it’s rust free.

it has very minimal rust for a almost 6 year old vehicle. Also, FTM I locked in a 1.74% loan with a local CU.

Seems like a good deal. I got my 14 trail premium w/kdss @ 20k miles in 2017
it cost 29k private party, blue book was close to 31k at time of purchase.

What did you think of the V6 vs V8?

Seems like a pretty good deal. It would probably be $25-30K in the bay area, the Trail models are hard to find.

The miles and remaining warranty are a big plus. And it looks like you're on the good side, price-wise. If you think you'll be happy with it, I say go for it.

Clean CARFAX means little. It merely means that nobody reported damage.

Spend $100 to get the car inspected by a trusted independent mechanic. If the current owner balks, then walk away.

I rang up Toyota for about $1900 in parts and labor costs with my CPO ‘14 that I picked up when they replaced a failing passenger seat motor and drivers side key cylinder.

These are incredibly reliable vehicles, but when purchasing used like this having some runway to address anything you may not detect when you inspect the vehicle is nice.

I didn’t bother with any additional pre-purchase inspection because I knew I had the warranty in place to address any issue that I discovered once I brought it home.

Just make sure you’re absolutely sure the warranty will transfer to you and you have some form of documentation on it beyond the sellers word so there aren’t any BS surprises there.

When I tried to have warranty work done by a South Eastern Toyota dealership it took them two weeks to figure out what the hell I was talking about with a CPO warranty through Toyota. Their network was different than the dealer in Arkansas and without the documentation I had for it, it would have been an even bigger mess.

The price seems really good IMO. If it's not rusty, it's a good buy.

Maintenance records? Repair records? Have your mechanic check it, drive it, put it on a lift and inspect. Take a look at the tires, (including spare) fluids, under the hood, belts, hoses, battery date, everything. Looks like it's been driven at least 10K miles a year; which is average or above. Are all the tools and jack there for changing a tire, including the lug key. All sets of keys there - replacements are expensive!......

All the maintenance records check out on the Toyota Website, I drove it drives great, brakes great, no leaks, etc. Tires are brand newish installed in March right before Covid -19 hit so hardly any wear. (Goodyear Wrangler Duratac) Only fault is she has only one key.

Thank you everyone for their input I put a deposit on the vehicle!
