You’re wise for going with LFD over Victory; however, I would have chosen the Pioneer rack over the LFD for its utilitarian ease.

I started with victory cross bars, which suck IMO and are useless. They sit below the level of the shark fin antennae which makes them useless for anything flat - SUP Boards, RTT, etc. Victory’s website says nothing about this and they will not take them back. F Victory from here on out.

The LFD bars I have now are great. They sit just above the shark fin, so my sup boards don’t get damaged, a sheet of plywood will fit and they look good with zero wind noise when combined with the fairing.

But, I’d still prefer the platform style rack afforded by the pioneer rack for useability. Stand on it, load it up with lumber, put on your RTT, sup/surfboards, kayaks, whatever.

Good luck man!

Just throwing another crossbar in the mix in case you are interested, Artec makes a pretty nice crossbar (sits low, has good mounting points, really strong) ive been extremely happy with mine.

The reason I haven't gone with any new cross bars or rack yet is the ability to load plywood with one person without damaging your truck.

How do you get ply up there?

It's longer than the rack so is it stable when it's up there?

Thanks! I was seriously considering Victory crossbars but I need it to be above the shark fin so I can haul my surfboard and paddle board as well.

I would have loved to keep the Rhino Rack, it's an amazing system and looks great. But I realized I'd have to get a bunch of RR accessories starting with their accessory bars just to get to parity with how I'm running things on stock crossbars. None of my existing accessories (Snowboard racks, surf racks, etc) will fit the Pioneer Platform since the slats run front to back.

Plus it adds about ~4 inches overall to the height of the vehicle and 40 lbs :/

I love the look of the Artec system and was strongly considering it. Ultimately decided to go with the narrower bars from LFD given the accessories I have will fit those and wouldn't be able to mount to wide bars.

Btw, for those that may not know, LFD makes a wide bar now that you can mount Rotopax directly to.
