I was not talking ground clearance, pure mechanics, electronics and design of the AWD system. Any AWD system that has 1 wheel losing traction and gets stuck, even with a locked transfer case, is not worth a dime to me. Believe me, if the Highlander had a decent system, I would be all over it. The size is perfect, reminds me of the 3rd Gen 4runner which I used to have for a little while a long time ago.

I am test driving a 460 tomorrow, that might just be what I need and fit the budget. The LC is in the unjustifiable range unless I find a decent priced barely used one. I dont believe in car loans and am trying to keep it under 45K.

Isn't the 460 sold in other countries as a LC150? Wonder what the mechanical similarities are.

Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate your time.

The 4Runner, GX460, and LC Prado are all built on the same chassis. The 4Runner and Prado are more similar in that they're more off road oriented, but the pre-facelift GX460 and Prado share essentially the same sheet metal.

Plenty people take their GX460s off road, but it is definitely more luxury oriented.

I always smile a bit when people say they don't believe in car loans, and not because they exist .

Simply because most of my new cars have been financed under 2%. Over the last 10 years I have averaged 14% on the stock market and private real estate investments. If I had paid cash for all my cars by removing cash from investment accounts, I'd have a lot less money.

If you have the cash to buy a car, always weigh long-term rate of return. Rates are super low right now!

I get your point but I am old school. You get a loan for a house or an education but get a toy you can afford. Anyways, to each their own.
