I gave it another shot and did get the comet bracket to fit around a cross bar. It is an extremely tight fit that required loosening and tightening until it finally stuck in place.
I ran it up and down the mountain and the bracket stayed on for the entire ride. That said, I can see why it's had mixed reviews. I had the antenna in an upright position and had to stop a couple of times to retighten the bolt holding it in place. After the third time, I gave up and left it in its more aerodynamic position, flush with the roof.
So long as it's only being used while stationary, the comet mount seems to work well.

All - how effective is the weboost in the horizontal position or like a ham antenna mount on the rear fender but below roof line? Know it's not ideal, but curious if you still get a little improvement.

Does not appear to work when on roof in horizontal position.

The bolt can't seem to hold the antenna upright above 60mph so it leans back about 10 degrees where the bottom nut strikes the crossbar. Got to figure something out with that.

Just curious, but how did you all run your cables from the roof through the cab to the box?
I'm assuming most run it through the hatch and under the trim?

Through the hatch? My wire is tight to the roof rack, then dips a u-turn into the rear pax corner and under the plastic post and then the plastic around the rear window and then down the B post under the front pax seat to the interior antenna.

Hatch, lift gate, rear door, what ever you feel like calling it. LOL
Any pictures? I was thinking the drivers side, but I haven't considered the passenger side.

I just got the Victory 4x4 rear bumper installed with two rear swing outs. There are holes in the top of each swing out, so I'll probably try to mount it there first. if that doesn't seem to work, I'll try the roof rack.

Hello, have you had any water ingress after this type of installation? I see in your pictures that the cable rests on top / in between the rubber gasket and the rear hatch gate, which I assume does not allow the rubber/gate to have a perfect seal while closed.
Also I assume you connected the weboost to the rear power outlet socket, is that correct? Any issues so far?

No water leakage to date. Not plugged into rear power socket but wired to the starter. It shuts off w/ vehicle electronics.

How did you attach the spring to the ram mount ball. Both are male….
