I installed some Bora 3/8" wheel spacers from Motorsport Tech with the factory trail rims. It now clears the upper control arm and I still don't need to do a BMC however I am rubbing the plastic mudflap on the driver side which doesn't bother me. I'm running 295/70R17 Cooper STT Pro tires.
I got some factory Toyota wheel studs to swap into the rear, part number 90942-02078. These longer studs can be installed by just removing the rear rotor and moving to shoes off to one side. The longer stud is roughly 3/8" longer than the factory rear stud. I used all the studs from the rear in the front of my 4Runner, they are a little longer than the fronts as pictured. I get at least 8 threads for the lug nuts.
Here is the Rear Studs.
Half installed, can see the difference in stud length.
All studs installed. One without the spacer, and one with.
Front stud compared to the rear factory stud of the 4runner.
Front Spacer installed, didn't have to bend the backing plate or anything to install the rear studs into the front. Just remove brakes and remove studs and install the rear ones into the front.
Front upper A-arm clearance, I no longer rub on the arm at all and at full lock have about 1/8" minimum of clearance.
