All we need is a series 70 with a good v8. Would have to be cheaper

If Toyota could just somehow adapt the 70 series being sold elsewhere in the world for the US market then it would be game over for everyone else.

Likelihood of that being sold in US? While I've always like the look of a Defender, the reality of one is another story. I'm not sure I would take a notoriously unreliable vehicle and pair it with a notoriously expensive to maintain vehicle and call it good. But hey, more power to them.

-No way in hell that will be street legal in the US
-If it's even built, it'll be made in the UK so expect catastrophic quality control
-More likely than not the company will fold and they will take investor money and deposits and run
-nothing keeping established car companies from building "no nonsense" 4x4s, which they do for the international market. Seems that the American market doesn't want them since the rest of the third world is lousy with them

As a former D90 and D110 owner for over a dozen years, I love the idea. Unfortunately, these beasts are not financially practical for most folks in the States. If you have disposable income, sure. When I did as a single guy, it was fun but expensive and had nothing better to do with my money. So I thought.

Defenders are very capable offroad in stock form. But parts and accessories were always expensive and limited in quantity and quality. I guess that's the same for the 4R, but at least most parts and accessories are available Stateside and no need to spend more money on import shipping from overseas. I hated buying something from overseas, without knowing first-hand what the quality was. It is a lot easier when the vehicle, parts, and aftermarket accessories are in-country.
