Those with keyless start, how do you get rid of the chime when opening the door?
When the vehicle is running, and even when it is off after a drive, the chime starts going crazy if you open the door but haven't yet exited the vehicle. It's super annoying. Haven't experienced so many loud chimes in 25 years of vehicle ownership. Is there a way to turn it way down or turn it off completely? This shouldn't require some shady hack software, it should either be possible to adjust through a Settings menu on the dash or in the head unit, or via Toyota's technician scantool.
Same thing with the doors auto unlocking when putting the vehicle into Park. I'd like to disable that as well and the manual says that should be accessible through the Settings on the headunit. Why isn't the chime there also to adjust?

This would be amazing! Working on the car with the door open becomes so annoying.

Check out Carista. You buy the OBD2 interface device for $30, download the app. Then you get a 30 day trial to do all your customizations. After that trial you can buy a one week access for $10 or a yearly subscription for $40.
I’ve got it for my 18 ORP and it works great.
Check it out to see if your model is covered.

It's because you've opened the door before turning off the car. If you turn off the car first, then open the door there are no persistent chimes afterwards.

Yes, however where I park, it's necessary to open the door while reversing into the spot. I've done it for years with other vehicles and none of them got as beepy angry as the 4R does.

Yeah, tell me about it. I "upgraded" to a 2020 from a 2011 and the stupid thing is always yelling at me. What are we married?
It yells at me when I park, when the sunroof is open, the running board didn't retract (not my job), when some moron stops on the freeway. Then there is Siri and Alexa, neither one will do my bidding. Who invited them to the party? Geez so much hostility. When does it become too much.
At least they used to be polite.

I was trying to install my radar yesterday. It was hot and the chime was driving me nuts.

As I've said in other threads, I'm sick of all the damn beeps and chimes from this truck. It's the one thing I truly hate about this truck.

The silly electronics that have a mind of their own are right in there too.

The only one that bothered me was the LDA and I could not find the “off” for it on the display because you have to use the button on the steering wheel. I do like the feature but sometimes, like when my wife is dozing, I don’t want it going off.

Is there any way to turn this chime off? (If you open the door before you turn off the ignition [I have a keyless 2020 T4R]). I just don't see the point of the chime and it drives me absolutely nuts!

Can anyone confirm that this chime can be turned off with Carista? I really hate this chime. I don't know what I am doing and why I am opening my door before turning off the truck so much... but I find this alarm going off all the time and it is incredibly annoying.

So far I have not found a way to turn this off with Carista, but if you dont mind pressing the little rubber button in the door jam by the latch, that will turn it off at that time. This is helpful is you're maybe working on the vehicle and need to leave the door open.
