Alignment F-Up

I just installed my 5100/Toytec 1.6"/Eibach 1" lift this week and took the truck to Firestone to get it aligned. I requested for them to dial in a much caster as possible (it started at 1.7L and R) but instead they put in as much camber as possible. Camber increased from .7L and .2R to 1.5L and 1.2R. Caster decreased to 1.5L and 1.2R.

I know cars are getting more complicated, but simple things like not using 10 ounces to balance each wheel because you didn't take the time to check the heavy spots on each wheel and tire (thanks Discount) or confusing caster and camber seems pretty easy.

Grrrr.

Definitely have them fix it and compensate your time. Hopefully get a better technician.
Firestone just replaces my tires and I was missing a lugnut, stud and all. 6 hours wasted.

I get it!

After my lift I couldn’t get into my preferred place because they were getting ready for a race. They are a race car shop not 4x4, but they all own 4Rs, FJs and LCs

They work on my sports car so they do me a favor and work on my 4R

So I went to what I thought was my next best option a 4x4 shop that claimed they did 3-4 4Rs a week.

First app...4 hours! Was not right. I even had rubbing after it. Had to come back. 90 mins later they said they couldn’t do it with JBA UCAs and tried to sell me SPCs.

Then said a BMC would solve the issues....for $700!

Called up my preferred shop after they got back and they got me in ASAP

1 hour later all was good, no issues for them. 5 degrees of caster. Drives great!

So my advise, find a shop that really knows 4Rs because average Joe is not going to cut it.

They also use laser balancing, so much better than road force at DT.
