Should come off pretty easily with a heat gun. Use a 3M adhesive remover wheel for the residue then clean/wax.

It's a miserable project that takes forever - and heat, pro-strength goo gone, and an old credit card to scrape the crap off. Never again.

Well... I’m done. Lots of scrubbing and goo gone.

Does goo gone damage the paint protection? Should I polish the area ?

DO NOT use Goo Gone.. you will scratch your paint.

Heat gun and lots of patience and take your time.

Try the "Bug and Tar" remover.. it's a green spray bottle from walmart. It's what I use to remove baked on bubble gum, etc and it has always worked.

I've used it on three Tacomas in the last five years and have not scratched my paint. It must be the tool you are using to scrape.

peanut butter!!!
ok, when your done laughing, getting paper stickers off plastic, once you tear the paper off, and the stickem layer is still there spread some peanut butter on it and let it soak. after a couple hours wipe it off with a paper towel. no scratches on the plastic. I used this trick to get the residue off a company truck after i pealed off there logo. it dissolves the sticky somehow. I could still see the logo because the surrounding paint was a bit faded, but no glue! I use this trick on plastic fly boxes, works like a champ!

Congrats on your success! I would do a complete wash and wax like you usually do, and see how it looks from different angles.

These are not paper stickers so his recommendation does not help the OP at all. But if you want to smear peanut butter on your clear protectors let us know how that works out.
