Air Compressor Hose and Fittings

Currently running a Viair 400P air compressor. This is the regular model, not the automatic version. The coil hose that it comes with sucks and is too stiff and gets tangled easily. The air chuck is also a clamp on style and is hard to keep on the valve stems and requires me to hold it tightly sometimes.

Is there a way to put together a different hose and quick connect chuck? I tried Google and came across a thread on another forum with people replacing their Viair hose with a 1/4" Flexzilla hose and adding an open flow "clip-on" chuck. That forum thread is over 5 years old and didn't include specifics on how to piece the parts together.

I attached a picture of what mine currently looks like.

Head to Harbor Freight and find all the stuff you want. If you don't need hose length, you might look at a 3'-5' whip hose.

3/8 in. x 5 Ft. Swivel Whip Air Hose

3/8 in. x 3 ft. Air Hose Lead

Add quick disconnects to everything that way you're not limited to one option and you can quickly switch parts that go bad or connect to something else, like a tank.

These things make is easy to move around to when airing up tires.
1/4 in. Male Industrial Swivel Plug

Note that there are different types of disconnects. HF and Lowes both have Industrial or Universal. Supposedly the Universal will fit in the Industrial, but I haven't tried that. It doesn't matter which one, just get the same type. Make sure you know which ones fit when you need replacement parts.
