Amazing what you can do with a little patience and the right tools.

I was loking to use aluminium for this but all options I found were very costly and then there was the added work of cutting and shaping metal etc.

I decided to use a nice piece of solid Mahagony 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches wide which was just the right size and much easier to work using a router.

This hardwood ended up being stiffer and lighter than the equivalent 1/4 inch aluminium option. Sprayed it with bedliner and has held up nicely for the past 5 months.
The fairing also totaly eliminated a slight wind noise I had at around 50 to 60 MPH
That looks very elegant, nice job.
I made a fairing from 1/4 aluminum. It took a lot of fine tuning to get the shape just right to follow the roof curves. Testing it at highway speeds (80+) in windy conditions it would flex and resonate so I had to add a rubber bumper support at the midpoint between fairing and crossbar. It works well to cut the wind noise.

As I recall, the designer @Eitek1 had a lot of complications over the last year or so with job, house moving, etc and has been very busy. Haven’t heard from him in quite a while. This rack project probably is a low priority for him right now.

Yeah in no way could I, or anyone else for that matter, have read into that by what you wrote.

I was trying to be helpful, in case you, like many, didn’t bother to check a few posts before asking. Best of luck.

Does anyone have a set of brackets for sale?

The maker of the brackets seems to have disappeared just as I found this solution! Does anyone happen to have a set of brackets for sale, maybe you never installed them or maybe you have moved on to a different rack and the brackets are gathering dust.

If you got some for sale I am interested!

I am about to make some for my 4th gen 4runner...but so you can mount the bar to stick out longer/wider. It'll be sitting more on like a shelf than just by the screws.

I have a full set of 8 brackets (for 4 crossbars), unused. I decided to go with a full length after market rack before I got around to installing these, but hung onto them in case I ever decided to go back to the OEM rack. Willing to part with them now. PM if interested.

I'm unable to PM yet. But I'd be interested in these. Are these still available?

Still looking for these brackets, I missed the guy who had them up above. Please send me a message if anyone has any of these for sale.

I dropped off the face of the earth for bit because I had to give something up. The website has always been active (even though I had the "vacation" message up) but I've not pursued getting any business. Orders still came in and I think I shipped my last set of brackets in stock today. I may have a few left but I've got to check.

I had a rough end to last year and I had to give something up.

I think the last thing I wrote in here was someone was killed in front of my house with a sword. No kidding...

I signed a purchase agreement to sell my house and set a closing date. We were ready to move back to the country and I had a house setup ready to go. I got the closing date scheduled and everything was ready to go. Then... Hurricane Ida put a tree through the house I was moving into. Still not kidding.

Added to this was my company going through layoffs and me switching to and learning a completely new job in the following months.

I'd like to pick this back up. I'm going out for material quotes today and will likely have a new price due to the cost of raw materials. BTW, my prototype fairing works great. I'll see about producing those as well.

To the person that posted above me.... If I find a set (some of my stuff is still in boxes) you're first on the list to receive them.

Wow man that's crazy! Glad to hear you're back and hopefully on the path to stability! I thought about ordering from the website but with the vacation message assumed you had bailed on the whole thing.

I'd love to get a set (and a fairing!) if possible.

Hello!

Glad you are in a place to potentially get back to doing this! I'm interested in ordering too once you get things established!

Thanks!

Glad to hear things are turning around! Put me in for a fairing as well, once you're up and running.
