I shipped a set of brackets up that way and I think the shipping was around 40 dollars total. I can check and make sure.

I'm up in Fort St John. If you're in the area I'll go in with you for sure.

FWIW, if you put the one cutout on either the left or right side, you'd have access to the front slot from one side of the rig, and access to the back from the other, although perhaps the desire for symmetry outweighs having access to two slots.

This is a great design BTW, I've been window shopping rack solutions for a while and this is looking like it might be the best fit for my needs.
To add some additional capability for light duty mounting of items I used your idea of “roll-in” slot connectors to attach eye bolts to the top of the rack.

Parts:
- 80/20 Inc, 3670, 10 Series 1/4-20 Roll in T-Nut with with Ball Spring (10 Pack)

- US Stainless Steel 316 1/4" Lifting Eye Bolt 1/4" UNC Marine Grade Qty 4

- M6 or 1/4 inch flat washers

- 1/4in-20 jam nuts Qty 4

You can slide them anywhere you want in the track, and you can remove them. The jam nuts allow you to adjust the position and snug down the bolt. I would not use this for strapping down really heavy items, but it’s good enough for attaching things like tarps or traction boards.

I thought I'd post an "action shot". I don't own a truck and needed to move a 22 foot extension ladder. It was a non-issue with the NiseRack and a two ratchet straps. I did learn something though, on the interstate the wind resonates through the ladder and sounds exactly like a dial tone.

The bars are right at 15/16" above the factory rails.

Crash tried to send you a private message. For some reason I can’t. I’m out of town so your order will ship Monday.

I’m still working on a faring. Sorry it’s taking so long... I’m trying to sell my house and move to a place better suited to my hobbies. That and my day job are taking all my time it seems. I need about 2 full days to finish and I think I’ll get those soon.

Maybe I missed it in this thread, but is there an option for Black powdercoating?

Sounds good. No worries as I know life gets in the way. Thanks for the response

On the website under FAQ says no black option to just spray paint. I did order the black crossbars though

The powder coating option would be expensive and wouldn’t really add any value. Powder coating is typically done on metals that are at risk of corrosion. The alloy used in the brackets is a corrosion resistant aluminum alloy. Basically powder coating would be “wasted” in this application.

If you want black brackets, just paint them black. Unless you are remarkably rough you won’t damage the rattle can finish. My first “test” rack was in use for a year with no issue. The only place the paint was “damaged” was at the mating surfaces between the bracket and the crossbar. This was only visible once I took the rack apart.

Sounds good, thanks! Yeah I saw the black ones on the website but didn't realize they were rattlecan jobs.

Love the look and design of these crossbars — very nice work. One question I had was, are they higher than the antenna fin? In other words, for example, would a load of lumber sitting on the bars clear the fin?

Another question: if I wanted spray the hardware black, what’s the best paint to use?
