2 different types of BMCs?

I've noticed there seems to be two different types of body mount chops. One that seems to trim the front or leading edge of the body mount vs cutting off everything outside the mount itself. I'm just wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages in one type vs the other. I already have the metal tech plates, but now I'm curious if there is a different or better options.

I've tried to attach pictures to show what I'm trying to describe, but I'm pretty new here and not sure if it'll allow me to even post at all. Thanks!

The 4Runner does not do well with the tire intrusion into the cab at certain crash angles. The body mount, which is high strength steel, is in-between the tire and the cab.

So I just had the front trimmed, leaving as much as possible. Plenty of room for my 285's.

No difference, all they do is add tire clearance. Choose whichever one you like, can afford, and does the job.
