How susceptible are the 5th gens to lower ball joint failure? I know this is more common on the 3rd gens, but I came across a video of a 3rd gen that had the failure on a trail and didn't have a spare part to replace it. Another truck ended up dragging it with with the wheel off. Should us 5th gen people be worried and start carrying spare parts?
4th and 5th gens are a different beast, different design, than the 3rds.
Unfortunately the 3rds are designed to rip themselves apart at fail point.
...as far as i understand.

The 3rd gen LBJ's were in tension as designed. The 4th and 5th gen LBJ's are in compression as designed. A safer and less likely to fail in a catastrophic way, design.
3rd gens seem to do it alot. Don't think in 3-4 years on here I've ever come across a failure thread for a 5th.
I've only seen one CV failure on here come to think of it. I'm going to be picking up a spare soon anyways. Other then that I've lost a lower rear shock bolt once so I'll be getting two spares.
Not terribly worried about much else catastrophically failing. But, i'm open to suggestions.
For everything else random xtra large cable ties and ratchet straps should be enough to get you out in a pinch.
