Very cool mod, I defintely would love to undertake this as I hate hauling around the extra weight and not having the extra space taken up by the third row.

That's one of the cleanest 3rd row delete I've seen here, great work OP on the design and execution. I'm considering doing this next Spring.

Looking to start this on mine. Curious if you made a materials list of possibly where you got your items you wouldn’t mind to share. I’m having a hard time finding things at the local hardware store. Thanks.

Any specific item you're unsure of?

I am having trouble finding the specific sizes for the screws, washers, etc.
Im working with a buddy on completing this mod and based off of the pics, we were unsure of what the m6/m10 materials were used for. We assumed the original bolts, from removing the 3rd row seats, are what were used in attaching the plywood to the frame but we could be wrong.

If memory serves me correct, I don't believe you are able to salvage the original bolts from the 3rd row seating for attaching the plywood to the frame as the bolts were too short. The new M6 bolts were for the "upper half" of the panel (nearest the middle row seats) and the new M10 were for the lower half of the panel (nearest the tailgate).

Still a work in progress and you are correct, I was unable to re-use the original bolts so i picked up the ones listed in your post. They seem to work perfect.
Curious as to how you handled the plastic clips holding down the rear light wiring. They seem to stick up a bit once the plywood is laid down. I was going to remove and tape down the wiring but wanted to get a second opinion. It also looks to me from you pictures you added an extra piece, in the rear, possibly covering where the wiring is ran or I may be seeing things. Curious as to what you did here.
Sorry for all the noob questions btw!

I think you're referring to the OEM scuff plate from a standard 2row 4runner. Check the parts list

i removed my third row too but kept the scuff plate and the side cover.. it looks raised to me but i think i like it raised. everything i put in there is contained. nothing is going to fall out when i open the back. just like in a minivan. see the video i created here. towards the end of the video, you'll see how it looks. i just installed back my cover. 2020 4Runner 3rd Row Seat Removal - step by step - YouTube

Thanks for this write up, very well done!
instead of making some covers for the 2 side compartment areas, did you look at a dealership for prices on new OEM 2nd row pieces? It may be a bit pricey. I'm a parts manager at a Honda dealership but the fella at the Toyota store gives me employee pricing, may not be too bad for me. I'm not even sure if swapping those two parts will work tho.

Much appreciated. I actually have looked into used panels and I found prices between $700 and $1000 for both. Not sure that I will make that sort of jump since the setup functions as needed. I'm sure I would if I came across them for a lower price. Can't imagine how much Toyota would charge for new.

Looks great. Wish I’d seen this post before scouring the country to find one without the 3rd row. Thanks for sharing.
