Would you sell?
So, I have a 2018 TRD Off-Road (not premium) with 40k on the clock. I'm the second owner with no accident history. It has no major damage, just some light scratching to the front fender, a scratch to the rear bumper, and scratches on the driver's side doors from going off-road.
For fun, my wife and I went to look at a 2018 Taurus SHO with 9k miles on it at a local dealership since I've always had an affinity for them. I jokingly asked what they would give me for the 4runner and was told given the current crunch on used suv's, the offer would be $30k, even if I took off all my mods (CAI, N-Fab Rack, KC HiLites lightbar, Roam awning, Waterport, Baja Designs ditch lights, OEM led fogs, Rago molle panels, Gobi ladder, n-fab tube steps). He claims he would buy it for the same price even without a purchase of the SHO because they need the inventory.
I'm thinking maybe sell it and buy the SHO, selling the mods, or possibly a new 4runner instead, moving over the mods.... What do you guys think? I think it is relatively high but have never looked into the used market since purchasing the car for $29k 2 years ago. Would you part with your 4runner for that kind of offer?

Nope. The SHO is cool but it's not that fast. Are you looking for a sports sedan?

I didn't know Ford still made the Taurus post about 2000ish. Looks like an interesting car. I'd say $30k for yours is a pretty good offer. Just my .02.

It's a scenario that would not be feasible for someone of my personality. I'm more of a "drive it to the ground" kinda guy so in other words, unless it's totaled or I die, I'm not trading in anything when it's not deemed necessary. Can't say the same for everyone that might like to lease or trade in for a newer one after owning it for 10+ years or something.

You got a good deal on a vehicle with surprisingly high mileage. I'd keep it.
No need to piss that away on a seriously mediocre car.

It sounds like you would rather have the SHO. If it will serve your needs, then the offer on the 4R makes it worth your while. Why drive a car you don't like if you can drive one you do like for equal money?

Since they're in demand, MY price to sell our 2014 TEP with 49K one owner, no wreck miles is $60,000. I won't take a penny less.
So if you want to give yours away for $30k, that's up to you. But the way I see it, THEY want/need to buy yours worse than you need to sell.
Treat them like they'd treat you. Tell them the added extras were already on the vehicle, and they can't be removed. Then tell them the cost of all those extras are added to the base price of $30k, plus a $10k (in demand "hot market" mark up). Don't forget the "seller transaction fee" of $900 that will be added to cover your time to complete the paperwork to transfer ownership to them (also known as "signing the title").

Do it and be happy for now, nothing else matters so what if you are miserable down the road. you will presumably be on a taurus forum then. Good luck.

Seems like a good offer. I was just offered $42K on my 2019 Pro with 11K miles to trade in for a new Rubicon Unlimited. But decided to keep my Pro. Not sure how many are aware of the paltry payload on a Rubicon Unlimited, it is a mere 875 lbs vs. 1650 for a 4Runner. As there are frequentely three of us in the Runner when we hit the Mtns, the Rubicon is just way to small and no comparison to back seat comfort on the 4Runner. 4Runners are the Kings of resale, I am keeping mine

It's a crazy time. Dealers are begging for inventory. The huge local Toyota dealer near me had over 85 4Runners in stock in mid May. They now have 11. The dealer I bought mine from in May had about 25 in stock back then. Now they have 3. I don't think they've gotten any new inventory in since the factories in Japan shut down months ago.
If you're wanting to get rid of it, now's probably the time.

Yup, I am seeing that for the dealers near me as well.
That said, if you do get rid of the 4R, it's hard to get a new one to replace it, you'll be paying a premium on those as well.
